4 World Class players that Arsenal are reportedly in talks with to replace Sanchez if he does leave this winter

Sanchez, Arsedevils

Arsenal are all set to bid aidieu to Alexis Sanchez and right now it feels like more or less a question of when rather than if. With reports coming out everyday from outlets in every corner of the world about his supposed agreement with City to join in the summer or his imminent move in this window itself due to the singular injury faced by Gabriel Jesus for a mere period of 4-5 weeks.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Out there its almost like as if Sergio Aguero does not exist or even if he does he simply cannot keep starting for a period of one month without crumpling his foot in a 100 pieces so you need another world class forward to warm the benches or start in place of any of the forwards that have scored a combined tally of 33 goals this season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Infact his chances of staying at Arsenal this season are so low that bookies are offering odds of 1/10 of Alexis Sanchez staying at the Emirates. Its not surprising really given the fact that Wenger managed to pull off quite a coup by resisting a £60 million bid in a summer and letting the guy walk out for free in the summer.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Whatever maybe said about his mercenary nature or his lack of loyalty for the club that actually made him a proper world class striker after pulling him from the shadows of Lionel Messi and turning him into the prized and globally appreciated mercurial striker that he is now, his natural talents, skills on the ball and his tireless work rate cannot be denied and will be hugely difficult to replace.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Here we take a look at the few names that are circulating in the papers with links to club and being touted as potential replacements for our number 7.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang :

[spacer height=”30px”]

Reports had emerged that Arsene Wenger considered him to be his primary target in the January Window to replace the potentially outgoing Alexis Sanchez. Those reports were even fueled further by his quotes in the press acknowledging how a move in the winter transfer window was quite possible and even for a big price player like him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

When asked about the possibility about a movement here is what he had to say to the press :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “I have not renewed a contract. [spacer height=”20px”] “In the winter market a lot can happen, also for me.” [/perfectpullquote]

[spacer height=”30px”]

However that seems all too much wishful thinking believing that the player who actually did not move in the summer when was actually allowed to do so, will do now in the middle of the season when the club depends on him and his goals.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

To make matters concrete Wenger was asked about the possibility of Arsenal making an approach for the Gabon international and he couldn’t have been more firm and decisive in denying any sort of possibility at all for that matter saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]“No, it is not a possibility,”[/perfectpullquote]

[spacer height=”30px”]

That is all he said and that is all there has to be for this matter. In my opinion his physicality wouldn’t be best suited for the League and I believe that is exactly what Wenger weighs in when having decided against making an approach last summer when the player was free and available for a transfer. Even with the addition of Sven Mislintat to his team of advisers I doubt how much his mind will be changed about this.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Thomas Lemar :

[spacer height=”30px”]

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger hasn’t ruled out a January exit for Alexis Sanchez and will surely have the person he tried signing in the summer in a £90 million bid in mind when considering replacements.

[spacer height=”30px”]

According to the most reliable of sources when it comes to French Media, news outlet L’Equipe  report that Arsene Wenger is actually considering the possibility of having the french sensation on board to replace Sanchez if City to make a bid in excess of £30 million.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

With Monaco out of the Champions League and PSG cruising to a Ligue 1 title, the principality side could be tempted in making a sale for the highly rated Frenchman with the prospect of his valuation diminishing as the dust gradually settles on AS Monaco’s golden year.

[spacer height=”30px”]

In the absence of a number of key prospects who helped the side romp to the title, the performance and statistical output of Lemar has widely diminished and this is something that the club will have in mind when evaluating the players stock.

[spacer height=”30px”]

While we do believe that Lemar is a viable replacement for Sanchez, the price quoted last summer is clearly in excess and that is gradually becoming prominent as the season progresses. If Sanchez does indeed leave this window it is actually very much likely that Arsene Wenger will turn to his compatriot to replace him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Lucas Vasquez :

[spacer height=”30px”]

According to reports in Spanish outlet Don Balon, Arsenal are apparently pushing very hard to sign Lucas Vasquez from Real Madrid while taking advantage of the players frustrations at a lack of playing this season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

So far he has only had a handful of starts(5) and has 24 appearances to his name this season while being pushed to a peripheral role with the emergence of Marco. Asensio. Whereas last season Lucas had registered 4 goals and 14 assists in 50 games for the Los Blancos and seemed to have an excellent season in helping his team to multiple trophies in a historical season for the club.

[spacer height=”30px”]

In a season where the BBC has been ravaged by injuries it does seem quite surprising that with Bale, Benzema injured extensively for large parts of the season and with James Rodriguez being loaned off to Bayern, the club has been unable to afford greater chances to one of the most promising players in their team.[spacer height=”30px”]

We know that its a Don Balon rumour so it will be sinful thinking too much into it however if it were to happen we would prefer there being a swap deal in which Sanchez heads off to Real and we get this guy in return. I mean it would have been ideal had we received someone in the range of Ronaldo in return who has odds of 50/1 to sign at Arsenal but we will make do with Vasquez given that Sanchez heads off to Read instead off to the arms of that bald Catalonian who manages that blue club in EPL.

[spacer height=”30px”]

While the report states that Vasquez is considering switching camps in search of better game time and also that Arsenal consider him a direct replacement to Alexis Sanchez, it seems unlikely that is the case as their goal scoring prowess are in complete contrast to each other and never seem like becoming a like for like replacement.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Lucaz only has 11 goals in 107 appearances for the Spanish Champions.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Wilfrid Zaha :

[spacer height=”30px”]

Zaha has been one of the best performers for Palace who have been largely underwhelming this season and he has been linked with a move to Tottenham and Arsenal.

[spacer height=”30px”]

His performances have been so good that a number of outlets even managed to come up with exclusives about Zaha being on his way to the Emirates as soon as the window opened.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

The situation at Emirates is pretty bad but is it that bad that we have to line up Wilfrid Zaha as a replacement for the world class Alexis Sanchez. Sure we may be interested in him just as we are in Mahrez and might even make a move for him but it will in all likelihood be in the summer.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Wilfrid Zaha is actually on a pretty good form right now is what has managed to help them beat the drop so far. If Wenger is indeed interested in the player which I believe he might be given his form, it will make a lot of sense getting him to play on the left side of the midfield where we usually field Alex Iwobi when using a back four.
