Medical done : Alex Oxlade Chamberlain spotted in Liverpool training gear

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain

Looks like Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is on the verge of a permanent move to Liverpool in a deal worth £40m with addons and performance related bonuses according to Sky Sports Transfer Central .

The England international has reportedly completed his medical at England training center at St. George’s Park.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Previously Arsenal had reportedly agreed a deal of the same amount with Chelsea with the player rejecting the move due to lack of assurances at being afforded a central midfield role in the team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has made 132 appearances for the Gunners in the Premier League scoring 9 goals in the process during his 6 year stint at the club.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Now it seems his time at the club is over with his contract set to expire at the end of the season and the player refusing a 180k per week package at the club.

[spacer height=”30px”]

A picture of him in Liverpool training gears has been leaked on twitter which more or less confirms the move for us.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Clearly as mentioned the medical has indeed gone well and Arsenal have indeed sanctioned a move for the player whom Arsene Wenger wanted to build the future Arsenal team around.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Correspondents for Sky Sports Kaveh Solhekol also reported confirmed news about the move explaining why Alex Oxlade Chamberlain rejected Chelsea and choose Liverpool saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Well it seems the fact that he was a boyhood Liverpool fan seems to have weighed up in his mind while making the move.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has won 3 F.A Cups during his time as the Emirates and 3 Community Shields, scoring the winner in one against Jose’s Chelsea which we fondly remember.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Last season was his most productive in an Arsenal shirt and his switch to a wing back clearly seemed to bring out the best in him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The manager also seemed to like his new found talent in that role preferring to start him over Hector Bellerin in a number of matches till his injury.

[spacer height=”30px”]

While i loathe to see him leave now that he was performing at his best, I do have sincere doubts about his ability to perform as good as he does now in a Central Midfield role with all the added responsibilities that comes with it.

[spacer height=”30px”]

If hes leaving means that Arsenal manage to keep Alexis for the season while making up for the financial aspect of things. Its not too bad to get £40m for a player like him who until recently struggled to find his best position on the pitch.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Lets hope his departure means that the surplus cash that Arsenal have made from their transfer dealings can finally be put in for some good use in bringing a fresh face into the club.
