Arda Turan

“Arsenal made an offer” : Gunners bid for Arda Turan confirmed

According to a report by Turkish-Football.com ,Turkey’s national team manager Mircea Lucescu has confirmed an official Arsenal bid for Turkish midfielder Arda Turan. Arsenal had made a bid for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan during the summer transfer window and were on the verge of signing the former Athletico Madrid midfielder only for the deal to fall through, according to Turkey’s national team boss Mircea Lucescu. Arda Turan had played a key role in the Atletico Madrid’s 2013/14 title-winning side before joining Barcelona in the summer of 2015. He however had to wait until January 2016 following Barcelona’s transfer embargo in order to make his debut for the Catalonian club and subsequently failed to make an impression on his former boss Luis Enrique and so far on his new boss Ernesto Valverde. Speaking to TRT Spor, Luscesu shared details of his conversation with Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde about the Turkish winger and how his move to Arsenal, Monaco and Galatasaray collapsed saying :

“I spoke to Valverde, Arsenal made Arda an offer,” “Arda was on the verge of joining Arsenal this summer but it did not go through.”

Lucescu also went on to reveal how Galatasaray and Monaco were interested in signing Arda Turan.

“Galatasaray wanted him but it did not happen, same with Monaco,” “Arda is going through a tough time.”

Turan meanwhile has struggled for playing time at Barcelona this season and has yet to make a single appearance in all competitions this season for Barcelona. His only appearance has so far come for Turkey in the National team qualifiers. Previously there had been numerous reports about Arsenal wanting to buy the Turkish chap and on a very nominal fee that too but after his bust up with a senior journalist on a plane while on National team duty, those seemingly fizzled out and a Turkish report even quotes Wenger as saying that he does not want troubled players in his team. Meanwhile Arda Turan injury record has also never been that great with him suffering 10 injuries and missing out on a total of 27 games with Barcelona due to injuries alone. Meanwhile you can check out Arda Turan who scored statistics and Transfermarkt player profile here in order to judge for yourself weather we really needed a disgruntled bloke like him in the first place. Dodged a bullet there it seems.
