Arsenal make decision on Ozil Future according to sources

Ozil

Arsenal have reportedly made up their mind to let Mesut Ozil leave the club in January according to reports.

The club is becoming increasingly frustrated at Ozil not committing to the club and are now willing to search for a buyer for the player in January.

Previously having said that he believes the German intends to stay at the Emirates and that its only a matter of time before new terms are signed, now it seems that Arsene Wenger may have to engineer a deal to get the maximum price for a player in the last year of his contract and not that many potential suitors either, at least not in the media.

According to a report in the Mirror Arsenal have offered Ozil £275,000-a-week but the player’s representatives have demanded £350,000-a-week.

Contract negotiations had been apparently not going on for a while according to a number of reports most notably by BBC reporter David Ornstein.

From what Ozil has always indicated to the media it has always been clear that his basic desire is to remain at the Emirates provided they stay competitive and actually manage to challenge for the League, something which has badly failed to happen during the last few seasons.

A reluctance on his part to sign fresh terms is quite understandable given that we actually only spend a quarter of what Manchester City did this summer on just one player which makes perfect sense given City are presently having their best start to the League in 130 or so years staying 9 points above us already while we have so far failed to win a single away game.

Among teams who might make a likely destination, only Manchester United and Inter Milan have been linked with some sort of logic behind the rumors. Inter president had publicly indicated his interested in the player while at United he could be reunited with his former boss who had previously brought out the best in him and might again do so while at the same time genuinely challenge for the League. Something we cannot fault him for wanting.

While he has always remained a very productive player, it can also be said that maybe Arsenal failed to realize his true potential due the absence of a World class finisher in the squad. He is spending the prime of his career at Arsenal and given the World Class potential that the world saw in him at Real Madrid at only 24 years of age, its quite possible that as a result of a malfunctioning and under performing team we never got the see what he could have actually become.

Ozil could feature tonight as we travel to face Red Star Belgrade in our third Europa league game on Thursday night but he’s more likely to be given a rest ahead of our crucial Premier League game with Everton at the weekend.
