That means the prospect of a complete defensive overhaul to the depleted and suspect defence. However, Arsenal are looking at a number of exciting purchases that offer real solutions to the seasonal collapse in defence, including Dayot Upamecano (RB Leipzig) William Saliba ( Saint-Etienne ) and Joachim Andersen (Sampdoria)

The pick of the bunch here is Andersen, who has real quality and can play out of defence and to feet, with the skill of a midfield baller.

He is a beautifully balanced player, that not only does the simple things well but he has excellent vision and passing ability.

Upamecano is more of a powerhouse enforcer, that is relentless in the chase and is reminiscent of Vieira in terms of his strength and presence. He is an awesome prospect that will add intensity to a defence that has become an Achilles heel.

Saliba is the least experienced but shows signs of being a real defensive talent. His natural attributes are his positional play and ability to read danger, something that needs to be instinctive in the role of a CB.

There is also a chance that Emery could reunite with Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno, who is a free agent. I tend to disagree with the majority of fans on social Media who don’t want the Spanish left back. I think it would be a smart move from a the point of view that Emery already knows and likes the player and that he is going to cost less than what’s currently available on the market.

With as little as £50m to spend in the transfer market, fans should smell the coffee and start being realistic on what can be done, espcially in defence.
