SHOULD THEY ? Arsenal Could Actually Sign €25 million Highly Rated La Liga Defender Being Coveted By Bayern And PSG Both

hermoso

Arsenal are looking to sign Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso in their latest attempt to fix a leaky defense.

The Spaniard is a product of Real Madrid’s academy, but failed to make his mark there. Hermoso made a switch to Espanyol, which eventually proved to be a slingshot into stardom.

The centre-back acted as a vital cog in Espanyol’s seventh-place finish over the course of the 2018/19 campaign. And naturally, whispers of a high-profile move have surfaced.

And as per Diario Sport, the Gunners are willing to fend off competition from Paris-Saint Germain and Bayern Munich for the Spanish defender’s signature.

However, the Spanish outlet also reported that Los Blanco had included a buy-back clause in the Espanyol star’s contract which would allowed them to import him back for as little as €7 million. But it was also reported that the Galacticos are only looking to sell him off again for a bigger profit.

The North Londoners desperately need a commanding centre-back to fix their abysmal defensive woes. Shkodran Mustafi really needs to be let go and there’s probably no one more perfect to improve Arsenal’s defense. Hermoso is proven leader, something the Emirates outfit lack as of now, and will only be a positive addition.

But with Bayern and PSG looming over him, Unai Emery might need to pay up in excess for his services. This depends completely on their upcoming Europa League final as a win would secure them a place in the Champions League and the riches that comes along with it. Basically it means that Emery’s next season depends completely on one single game.

However, the German side may not work too hard on this transfer as they signed Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish centre-back has proven his worth and with a release clause rumoured to be around €25 million, the Londoners should really be all over him. Especially with Mustafi having proven time and time again of his incompetence and Rob Holding only starting to recover from his ligament injury. The Englishman could form a really good partnership with him over time.
