Revealed: Nature Of Lacazette’s Injury And What Lies Ahead

Lacazette, Arsedevils

Alexandre Lacazette has shown his prowess of finishing on the field, especially against Liverpool at home when his top-class finish that flew past Alisson Becker. The Frenchman has it in him to showcase brilliant cameos which can be possible for him if he keeps himself fit and healthy.

However, Lacazette has withdrawn from the French National team that was set to face Netherlands in Rotterdam in the UEFA Nations League on Friday and Uruguay in a friendly in Paris on Tuesday. He was initially not selected within the 23-man squad list for Didier Deschamps’ team, but due to unforeseen circumstances, Manchester United’s star in-form Anthony Martial’s injury propelled Deschamps to include him in the squad, giving him the opportunity to grow as an internationally acclaimed player. The striker’s last appearance for his nation was last November in a friendly against Germany.

Lacazette’s intentions of withdrawing are understandable as he wishes to take care of himself by not aggravating his groin injury.

He has impressed so far this season by scoring 6 goals in 14 games for Arsenal.

“He was called up regularly for us,” Deschamps said. “Even though he was not part of the 23-man group for the World Cup.

“But he has been rather good for his club, and his scoring statistics are of a very good level. With the French team he has already done some interesting things, and some other less interesting things.”

Alassane Plea, the Borussia Monchengladbach forward has been selected instead, who will receive his maiden international cap due to his recent plunders in the Bundesliga, including a hat-trick last game against Werder Bremen, and also having scored 8 goals in only 11 matches.

Though the French international missed a big opportunity to set himself in the national squad, his withdrawal is justified and understandable. An aggravated injury could put him out of action for both club and country and avoiding that should be the priority.

Unai Emery would be breathing a sigh of relief right now.
