Arsenal Match Report: Welback MOTM in 3-0 win vs Bournemouth

Arsenal have returned to winning ways courtesy of a couple of goals from Welback and an absolute beauty from Lacazette in their 3-0 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium.

Having registered back-to-back defeats in their last two premier league matches, the Gunners picked up their first points since the opening day of the season as a brace from Danny Welbeck either side of an Alexandre Lacazette superb strike saw them ease past Eddie Howe’s team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

They finally seem to have registered a descent and comfortable win in the Premier League this season against Bournemouth.

[spacer height=”30px”]

While Arsenal were indeed sloppy at times they did seem to have a greater intent and a much better vigour in their play.

[spacer height=”30px”]

After suffering a crushing defeat to Liverpool before the international break, it was imperative Arsenal returned to winning ways. And they made the perfect start when, after just six minutes, Welbeck opened the scoring after heading in from Sead Kolasinac’s cross.

[spacer height=”30px”]

In the 15th minute, Mesut Ozil took a brilliant free-kick, managing to lift over the Bournemouth wall and Asmir Begović made a fantastic save to deny Arsenal their second.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The Gunners finally doubled their lead in the 28th minute through Alexandre Lacazette finding the net with a fantastic finish which will have people clamoring for more of the same from him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Bournemouth almost seemed to pull one back when Defoe got on the end of a cross from Jordan Ibe but managed to hit the bar before failing to convert the rebound.

[spacer height=”30px”]

That kind of summed up their match and made us seem destined to win against them. Oh and this was Welback’s night after his horrendous performance last time out so who were Bournemouth to take it away from him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Soon after Bournemouth gave the ball away in their own half again and Arsenal capitalised to make it 3-0. Welback netted his second of the afternoon from an angle from which it was almost impossible to score from any other angle than the one he did fom.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The 26-year-old was tasked with filling the boots of Alexis Sanchez and he didn’t let Arsene Wenger down, as he produced a stunning performance.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Two goals and an assist does justify his inclusion in the team line up ahead of Sanchez. Probably the guy has been working too hard in his finishing training sessions. His first goal was a typical Welback goal but his second one was anything but.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Welback almost completed his hat-trick on the hour-mark but couldn’t quite finish what would have been a lovely goal by lifting an audacious chipped finish just past the far post.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Oliver Giroud and Alexis Sanchez then came on for Lacazette and Welback with less than an quarter of the match left to play.

[spacer height=”30px”]

During that instant one thing became obvious that his relationship with the Arsenal supporters was decaying quite rapidly.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Sanchez came on to an ovation of a mixture of boos and cheers resonating throughout the entire stadium.

[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Something to be done there it seems.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Quite an improvement from the tremendous performance we put in last time out at Anfield. Though not by any means something to be carried away yet, the real thing that remains to be seen is what we end up doing when faced with proper challengers for our title challenge next week against Chelsea away.

[spacer height=”30px”]

All in all a much more convincing performance from the boys in red who seemed like proper men with a point to prove.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Meanwhile here are the highlights from the 3-0 fixture against Bournemouth this afternoon
