Arsenal are in dire need of reinforcements at the back with Captain Per Mertesacker officially retiring to take over the Arsenal academy and with vice captain Laurent Koscielny already 32 and struggling with an frustrating and permanent Achilles injury. Despite having Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and the newly arrived Kostantinos Mavropanos in their ranks, doubts over their quality and ability in becoming the first choice centre backs is prevalent and the addition of a commanding young center back could well be the best solution here if Arsenal do choose to keep their faith and sign another young center back. However a player of his quality will certainly not be cheap for a Premier League club and a valuation of £30 million is already being touted on the cards as the sum which will apparently convince the Bundesliga club to part ways with their prized asset though it is very much doubtful whether Arsenal will indeed spend that much on such an young player. More in this will gradually be revealed as the season draws to a close and the transfer window reopens.
I have been very impressed with Caglar Soyuncu's development. The 20-y/o has gone from 2nd tier Turkish football to be a Bundesliga starter— Turkish Football (@Turkish_Futbol1) April 21, 2017
Everything about Caglar Soyuncu the defender Sven Mislintat wants at Arsenal
Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Freiburg over the possibility of signing young defender Caglar Soyuncu in the summer. Soyuncu, 21, has made 47 appearances for Freiburg since joining the club back in 2016 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the most sought after centre backs in the Bundesliga already. Having made more than 30 appearances for Altinordu S.K, a second division team in the Turkish League, Caglar Soyuncu secured a move to Freiburg in 2016 amid Sevilla and Besiktas also competing for the players signature. After initially struggling at his new club and conceding two penalties in his first two months, Soyuncu went on to gradually establish himself in the first team and is now considered as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga. The 21 year old defender’s progress has certainly not gone unnoticed with Sven Mislintat the now Arsenal head of recruitment reportedly well aware of his abilities and potential and now possibly weighing up a summer bid for the Turkish International according to the Daily Mail
