Chile team-mate : “Man City transfer was important to Alexis”

Europa League

Alexis Sanchez was delighted to be moving on to another club, claims Chile teammate Mauricio Isla.

Arsenal were reported to have accepted an offer of £60million from Manchester City for the Chilean on deadline day, but called the deal off after hearing that AS Monaco Player Thomas Lemar was not interested in a move so late.

Arsene Wenger insists the forward will be focused on the season ahead with Sanchez now back in England.

Saying in the aftermath of the failed move :

‘It was his first game. He suffered, he had a negative experience now with Chile but he is strong mentally and hopefully he will be back very quickly to his best. [/perfectpullquote]

Sanchez subsequently put in two below par performances for Chile in their World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Paraguay which has left their world cup qualifications in doubt.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The former Barcelona star has been heavily criticised by his national press for his unfit and lacklusture performance who have also described him as unfit and fat.

[spacer height=”30px”]

And now his Chilean team-mate Mauricio Isla has gone on to describe his mental state after Arsenal pulled the plug on his dream move to Manchester City to get reunited with Pep Guardiola.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Launching a stanch support of his team-mate, Isla hinted that he was distracted by his failed transfer saga which may be the reason for his unpassionate performances during the International break.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Speaking to soychile he went on to describe Alexis’s mental situation saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “Alexis is at a top club like Arsenal but he was very happy to move on to another big club (Man City),”  [spacer height=”20px”] “After the news came and he was not able to sign the contract, Alexis felt sad and surely that hurt and affected him. [spacer height=”20px”] “The transfer was very important for him but it did not happen.”

[spacer height=”20px”]

“When Alexis is well, the team is better.”

[spacer height=”30px”]

Meanwhile there are certain reports stating that Manchester City are looking to return for him sooner than later with a bid in the January window hoping to capitalize on his unhappiness and the frustrated situation he feels they are in.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Arsenal also welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates on saturday and Gooners across the Globe will he hoping that Alexis is able to forgo his frustrations from the National team outing and the summer transfer window and instead try to take out his frustrations on the pitch when he returns in Arsenal colours this season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Do you feel we were right to keep an unhappy man like him or should Alexis have been sold per his wishes ?
