Five Things we learned from Manchester United vs Leicester City: 2-0

Manchester United

The Red Devils maintained their perfect start to the season by winning at Old Trafford against Leicester City.

The final time score read 2-0 with goals from second half subtitutes Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Jose Mourinho’s side made it three on three and sit atop the Premier League table with 9 points.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Listed down are the 5 things that we learned from the match by Arsedevils

[spacer height=”30px”]

1. Pogba: Dominant Midfield force

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United Pogba

[spacer height=”20px”]

Though he still displays immaturity at times on the field but is growing to become the player United wanted him to be. After arriving at Old Trafford for £89.3m in 2016, this is the first time he is playing the role, he was bought for.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Playing as a more free player in midfield this season after the arrival of Nemanja Matic, he has been able to attack more often showing a physical presence on the field.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Pogba was seen to control the proceedings of the match from start to finish.

[spacer height=”20px”]

He was the dominant force on-field for the Red Devils combining well with both the defence and attack.

[spacer height=”30px”]

2. Rashford’s turn for Glory

[spacer height=”20px”]

Mnchester United Rashford

[spacer height=”20px”]

Anthony Martial started this match for the Red Devils after his cameos in first two matches of the season. In two matches, he scored 2 and assisted 1.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Martial was swapped for Marcus Rashford who was benched after starting the first two matches on left-wing.

[spacer height=”20px”]

But the glory for this match was reserved for Rashford. He scored the first goal for Manchester United coming as a second-half substitute for Martial.

[spacer height=”20px”]

He showed his worth with a great goal from the corner in the later half of the match.

[spacer height=”30px”]

3. Maguire: New sensation for Leicester

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United Maguire

[spacer height=”20px”]

For £17m, Maguire might already be the bargain of the season for Leicester.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Harry Maguire was tremondous for a not so good Hull City side in the previous season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

In the match against the Red Devils, he was seen blocking, intercepting, tackling and heading the ball to keep the Devils at bay. He was outstanding in strengthening the Foxes defence during the match.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Maguire has already been called for England national team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

4. Consistency: Key for Success for Red Devils

[spacer height=”20px”]

[spacer height=”20px”]

During Louis Van Gaal’s reign, Manchester United showed no consistency. The team line-up was not stable. There was no chemistry in the team.

[spacer height=”20px”]

But Mourinho hasn’t been repeating this mistake. He has kept the starting line-up constant with very few changes. The change coming in the form of Martial for Rashford on the left-wing.

[spacer height=”20px”]

This strategy has helped Manchester United maintain the chemistry in the team. The performances showed that.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The quality play shown by United will make them a team to beat.

[spacer height=”30px”]

5. Rashford or Martial: Left-wing problem solved

[spacer height=”20px”]

In the first three Premier League matches, Rashford started the first two games and Martial the third one.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Both has been providing the team with the performances necessary. Both the players have gelled to become perfect left-wing sub combo.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Martial scored one each for first two matches as a sub for Rashford. On the other hand, Rashford scored a goal for the Red Devils as a substitute for Martial in the third match.

[spacer height=”20px”]

They have been pretty efficient in unsettling the opponent’s defences. It looks like Manchester United might have solution to their wing problem.
