Jack Wilshere to leave in the summer after rejecting new deal

Jack Wilshere

According to reports in the Mirror via the Sun, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reportedly rejected a fresh contract at Arsenal this summer despite his contract all set to expire in 2018.

Arsenal academy graduate Jack Wilshere has less than a year left on his present contract and had spend the last season on loan at Bournemouth in a bid to achieve regular and robust playing time.

[spacer height=”30px”]

However he had his time cut short with Cherries due to a broken leg sustained in a collision with Harry Kane.

[spacer height=”30px”]

His appearance in the Cup tie against Doncaster was his first senior appearance since recovering from his latest setback and literally his first 90 minute appearance in a Arsenal shirt in years (last was in 2014).

[spacer height=”30px”]

Speaking ahead of the West Brom game, Arsene Wenger admitted there had been no new talks over a new deal with Jack Wilshere and what it would take from his over the season to earn a fresh contract saying :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “It is down to the fact—and I have said this many times—that he can remain fit or not. He’s an Arsenal man and an Arsenal player, [spacer height=”30px”] “He would certainly like to stay, but we haven’t spoken about that, because at the start of the season I thought we had to see how it evolves and see what kind of influence he can have in the squad through the whole season.” [/perfectpullquote]

[spacer height=”30px”]

However Sun reports now that the English man had indeed been offered a fresh contract and would have been loaned out again had he signed fresh terms.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The report also states that a source close to the player has revealed that it was the player who refused a sign a new contract due to uncertainty over regular playing time at the Emirates and has his heart set on a permanent move away from the Emirates.

[spacer height=”30px”]

As quoted speaking to the Sun  :

[spacer height=”30px”]

[perfectpullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “Arsenal didn’t want to loan him out again unless he signed a new contract — but he didn’t want to sign one. [spacer height=”30px”] “If Jack gets back into the Arsenal team on a regular basis and feels he is seriously part of the club’s plans, there is still a chance he might stay. [spacer height=”30px”] “However, as things stand, he is still of the view that he will be leaving at the end of the season. [spacer height=”30px”]
“But he will be giving it his all for the club and will remain professional.” [/perfectpullquote]

[spacer height=”30px”]

During the entire summer, Jack Wilshere had been linked with West Ham United and a number of Turkish Clubs who were said to have been quoted a sum for his services signalling Arsenal’s intent in letting the player leave before his contract expired.

[spacer height=”30px”]

However they deemed the fees too high for their liking and Wilshere ended up staying here with us with a tough task of getting back in the managers first team plans.

[spacer height=”30px”]

In all likelihood Arsene Wenger was probably more open to the idea of selling him than we would like to imagine and would probably have done so had a suitable offer arrived for him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Seeing a player who has been with the club since he was 9 years of age, leave after seeing his potential and career stall due to the staggering number of injuries suffered is utterly heart breaking.

[spacer height=”30px”]

With the upcoming match against West Brom we expect to see Jack Wilshere on the bench and gradually making his way into the league starting line up.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Our match against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League should provide him his next start and his best chance of showcasing his forgotten talent.

[spacer height=”30px”]

With plenty of rotation expected in the Europa League group stages and the Cup competitions ahead, there will be a number of chances for Jack Wilshere to get back in the managers thoughts and prove his worth to the team.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Moreover an injury to either Ramsey or Xhaka is not unheard of in this team and he might be the prefect man to take their place at the centre of the park.

[spacer height=”30px”]

He is a much more mature and a focused lad now after his injury nightmare and his loan spell at Bournemouth. All he needs to do is keep is head in the game, utilize each and every opportunity he gets to get out on the field and play like its his last game at the club.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Well if he does indeed leave after this season we certainly hope he finds his best and natural self back and can become the player that everyone thought he was going to be when he bossed a Barcelona midfield featuring Xavi and Iniesta.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Arsene Wenger always had a lot of faith in him, Roy Hodgson did and for good reasons too, this is his season to prove what everyone always believed about him.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Its a pity if he cannot show to the world this season what truly made the Stevenage-born English man so incredibly special that night.
