United Prospect Kieran O’Hara Called For Senior Team In WC Qualifiers

Manchester United young prospect Kieran O’Hara has been called up for the senior team of Republic of Ireland according to reports.

Kieran O’Hara joined Manchester United in July 2012 as an U-17 academy student. Kieran O’Hara is a part of the national U-21 football squad for Republic of Ireland. Despite facing tough competition from teammate Joel Pereira who is preferred as the first choice for starting XI chances, he signed a new professional contract with the Red Devils in 2014. However, Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill is said to be very keen of the U-21 Ireland squad goalkeeper. According to reports, Kieran O’Hara has been called up to train with the senior team ahead of their World Cup qualifiers, with Moldova and Wales. Though it is hard to break into the Manchester United squad with two world class goalkeepers De Gea and Sergio Romero present in the squad and also tough competition from Joel Pereira, international recognition will not hurt his carreer. Moreover, it may boost his chances of getting himself noticed to Jose Mourinho. However, the goalkeeper’s recent performances for United youth team has impressed national coach having earned him a call for the senior team. Moreover, Republic of Ireland national boss Martin O’Neill and goalkeeping coach Seamus Mcdonagh were keen for a more closer look on Kieran O’Hara. During his time in training with the senior team, Kieran O’hara worked alongside senior squad goalkeepers Darren Randolph, Rob Elliot and Colin Doyle. With senior team goalkeeper Kieran Westwood out due to injury, the young prospect had a one-on-one session with Seamus Mcdonagh. While O’Hara is unlikely to get any game time with the senior team, the training with the first team will surely impact the youngster in a positive way. With the first team exploits, the goalkeeper is surely to set a high aspiration for the future. The Ireland player has now joined the U-21 national team for their Euro qualifier against Norway. O’Hara is likely to get his second cap for the U-21 team. After joining the U-21 Republic of Ireland squad, he tweeted: Born in Manchester, Kieran O’Hara is eligible to play for Republic of Ireland due to the grandparent rule. The 21-year old keeper would surely hope to catch Jose Mourinho’s eyes with his performances for the national team. Although it is highly unlikely for the young keeper to dislodge the two quality goalkeepers in the United squad, it is not impossible to see the young United prospect as the main keeper in the foreseeable future. As an United fan, I also hope to see the young prospect to have a bright future. Best Wishes for his match against Norway. Visit Arsedevils for all the updates on Manchester United.
