It’s derby time as Manchester City are set to host their arch-rival Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium. City are the table toppers whereas United are placed second. However, there is as much as 16 points difference between the top 2 Premier League sides.
A win for City means they are the EPL champions for 2017/18 season. It simply means they have the chance to lift the title in their dream season against their neighbours at home at the Etihad. A win or draw for United means they delay the title winning match for city at-least by another week.
Although, City have lost only one match in Premier League this season, they come into the match with an embarrassing 3-0 loss against Liverpool. United head into the match with a 2-o win against Swansea with both the goals coming in first half.
Considering, the change in formation in the previous match, Mourinho would stick to the same combination as it really worked well for them in the last Premier League outing.
Here is the predicted line up: 4-2-3-1
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The United goalkeeper is perhaps the best in the world and surely picks himself. He is getting better with each match as those crucial saves against Swansea proved. The Spaniard is an automatic selection for the derby game at the Etihad Stadium.
Defenders: Valencia(captain), Lindelof, Smalling, Young
Valencia will captain the side at the Etihad and would lead the side from the right side of the defense. He would be ably supported by Young on left flank. Together, they will need to keep things quiet against De Bryune, Sterling and Sane. Smalling would be the pillar of defense alongside Lindelof who was recently praised by the boss because of his ability to create from defense.
Midfielders: Matic, Pogba, Mata, Lingard, Sanchez
While Matic and Pogba would play as defensive midfielders, Mata and Sanchez would play on right and left-wing of United attack at the Etihad Stadium.
Lingard who assisted one goal in last game, and was part of build up for other would play as central attacking midfielder. Together, United will rely on creativity and one touch play by their midfielders which they showed in the last game against Swansea.
