The Brazilian has been signed by the Portuguese manager for a reported £52.5 million, and was subjected to undergo medical on June 4th in London, England.
#MUFC is delighted to announce it has reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Fred.

The 25-year-old Brazilian international joined Shakthar Donnetsk in 2013 from Internacional and has been one of their top midfield player since.
Fred has made over 150 appearances for Shakthar, scoring 33 goals in total.
In his 5 years in Shakthar, he helped them win two league titles, two domestic cups, and three Super Cups, as well as playing in both Champions league and Europa league.
When Shakthar’s former manager, Mircea Lucescu, who is incharge of Turkey’s International team, was asked about Fred, he had this to say, :
“I am really pleased that Fred has completed his transfer to Manchester United, I am really proud of him.”
“When I signed him at Shakthar, Taison and Bernard were playing in his position.”
“I transformed his position, giving him a more defensive role.”
Lucescu has the biggest hand in making Fred the player that he is today and certainly speaks highly of his former player.
Brazil’s international team coach, Tite admitted that he wasn’t surprised by United’s interest in Fred.
“When this happens, and it is inevitable, they are going to come to us and our advice is to resolve this as soon as you can so your head is back with us and focussing on the national team.”
“If I was the manager, I would ask to sign him as well.”
With the addition of Fred, United have made their midfield stronger, with lights of Pogba, Matic, Mata, Herrera, and now Fred.
The Brazilian is known to play as a defensive midfielder, which would make it easier for him to make play transitions from defense to offense and vice versa.
Wether this transfer will be a sucess or a flop for United is yet to be seen. And how Jose Mourinho fits Fred into his gameplay would decide the future of this young talent.
