Match Preview: Manchester United Vs Stoke City

Stoke City

The Red Devils go head-to-head with Stoke City in Saturday’s game at the Bet365 stadium as the Premier League resumes after the international break.

How have the Reds fared so far?

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United made a perfect start to the season with full points from the first three matches. One win came from an away match at Swansea with 0-4 scoreline.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Reds currently hold a hundred percent record having won all the opening matches and top the table with nine points.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United have scored a total of ten goals and conceded none in the three matches played so far.

Stoke City’s start to the season

[spacer height=”20px”]

Stoke City have experienced every result possible for a team having won, drawn and lost one each. The win came at home against Arsenal with their new signing Jese Rodriguez scoring the winning goal.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Potters are currently 11th on the Premier League table with four points after three matches.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Last season, both the league fixtures played between Manchester United and Stoke City ended in draws with a 1-1 scoreline with none able to clinch a win against each other.

Devils during the International break

[spacer height=”20px”]

It’s a positive sign for Manchester United with 17 players leaving for international duty towards their respective countries. Few made important contributions to matches in which they played.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Romelu Lukaku kept up his kick-off to the season form with four goals for Belgium in the wins against Greece and Gibraltar during the international break.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford kept going by scoring a goal for England in a 2-1 win against Slovakia.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Both our squad keepers David de Gea and Sergio Romero retained clean sheets for Spain and Argentina respectively.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Also, our Dutch international Daley Blind set-up two goals for Netherlands against a 3-1 win against Bulgaria.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Past Clashes against the Potters

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United have a mixed all-time record against Stoke City with 43 wins, 35 draws and lost 28 matches in all competitions since the two teams clashed first in 1893.

[spacer height=”20px”]

But after Stoke city’s promotion to the Premier League in 2008, the Red Devils have dominated with 12 wins in 18 matches in league fixtures.

[spacer height=”20px”]

It’s the first meeting for the two teams since January at the Bet365 stadium when the Potters held United to a 1-1 draw after ex-Red Wayne Rooney scored from a spectacular free-kick.

Match Referee

[spacer height=”20px”]

The match against Stoke City will be officiated by Neil Swarbrick on Saturday, with the Lancashire official taking charge for his third Premier League match of 2017/18 season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The match will be co-operated by Darren Cann and Scott Ledger along with the 51-year old man from Lancashire.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The fourth official will be Stuart Attwell.

[spacer height=”40px”]

Jose Mourinho’s men will crave for a win at the Potteries and keep the momentum going for them. The Reds will want to gain full points against Stoke City in Saturday’s game.

[spacer height=”30px”]After Ashley Young and Luke Shaw stepped-up their recovery from injuries, they may be in contention for the match.

[spacer height=”30px”]

However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rojo will miss the match as they yet need some time to recover from their respective injuries.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Meanwhile, good news arrived for Stoke City fans. Mark Hughes announced in pre-match interview that ex-Reds Darren Fletcher and Mame Diram Diouf are set to feature for Stoke City’s match against the United.

[spacer height=”30px”]The Potter fans will be hoping that their star-men Xherdan Shaqiri and Jese Rodriguez perform well for the match.

[spacer height=”30px”]

United fans will be hoping that Henrikh Mkhitaryan continue his good form with another assist. Expect new summer signing Romelu Lukaku put a goal to the net against Stoke City after his stellar performances for Belgium.

[spacer height=”30px”]

It is going to be packed weekend as the Premier League resumes after the International break.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Hope to see the Reds give another power performance at the Potteries.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Look out for the predicted line-up at Arsedevils.
