BREAKING | Manchester United Confirm Long Term Agreement for English Midfielder

McTominay

Manchester United have confirmed that Scott McTominay has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

McTominay has been at United since the age of 5, and is another product of the club’s esteemed academy. His emergence through the ranks has been nothing short of incredible.

The Englishman is one of tallest players at the club, but it wasn’t always that way. In fact, there were once concerns that the youngster would not make it in the professional game due to his short stature. However, in 2015, the then 19-year-old went through a phenomenal growth spurt that saw him grow an incredible 14 inches.

From then on, his career took off in a similar manner to his height. He became a regular for the reserves and soon knocked on the doors of the first team. He eventually made his debut under former manager Jose Mourinho, coming on as a substitute against Arsenal in May 2017.

McTominay became an important member of the United squad last season, and was dubbed ‘Mourinho’s favourite son’ by a number of the club’s supporters. He is seen as one of the players that will be the future of the club alongside the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. Hence, the Reds have decided to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

The club confirmed the news with a statement on their official website that read:

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that Scott McTominay has signed a new contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2023, with the option to extend for a further year.”

Scott McTominay said: “Manchester United has been my life since the age of five and playing for the club I’ve always supported is all I’ve ever wanted to do. I’m still young and I’m learning all the time from the manager, his coaching staff and from the world-class players in the squad. I can’t wait to continue my progress at this great club.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “

“Scott has been with the club from a very young age, he has progressed through our Academy ranks and has made fantastic progress in the last couple of years.
Scott is a young midfielder and is constantly improving. He’s an intelligent player and wants to learn all the time. I am delighted he has signed a new contract and there is no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him.”
