Brazilian Midfielder Seriously Considering Formal Offer Tabled By Arsenal | Huge Move on the Cards

Pereira

The Mirror reports that Brazil and Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is on the move and could join Arsenal on a free transfer at the end of the season when they put a formal offer. So is there a move on the cards or just a rumor, only time will tell.

Pereira joined United’s youth team from PSV Eindhoven in 2011 but has failed thus far to establish himself in the first team ever since making his debut over four years ago. The 23 year old was expected to gain more match time under the new manager after Mourinho’s sacking but has been in action only as a substitute in one game so far with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer giving experienced players a go.

Pereira

His contract is going to expire at the end of the season and with the way things are so far, an extension to his contract is highly unlikely for the Brazilian. Reportedly, Valencia are also in the hunt to get Pereira in their team where he spent his last season on loan.

Arsenal can get their hands at Pereira only at the end of the season on a free transfer whereas Valencia can get into a pre-contract agreement in the January transfer window. Pereira is seen as a versatile central attacking midfielder who can also play at the wings. His form has been good given the limited number of opportunities provided to him.

Arsenal look to him as a potential replacement to Aaron Ramsey, who is going to join Juventus on a free transfer. Manchester United, meanwhile, should try and keep him for at least another season ahead and give this talented lad some more game time and also as backup for other midfielders who are frequently getting injured. Manager Ole can get him to stay in the team given his experience at the club and how Sir Alex used him in the team.

Solskjaer gave similar advice to Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard after the former was guilty of missing a lot of chances in the game against Young Boys. He said:

“I went to see the Young Boys game just a month ago and I met him and Jesse [Lingard] in the corridor just as I was leaving the game.

“He had a few chances in that game and [I said] ‘don’t worry son, just relax a little bit.'”

After saying Rashford admitted he was ‘snatching at things’, Solskjaer continued:

“When you’re young you want to rush finishes off. It will be great to work with such a potential top, top striker, just on his calmness in front of goal.

Yes, of course you’re excited by working with all this talent but then going into detail is what I can do best. That was my ‘X factor’, scoring goals. So if I can help and guide him a little bit then great.”

United are in sixth position with 38 points off 21 games and are fast catching up with Arsenal who have returned to form with a 4-1 thumping of Fulham. A Champions League spot is still a possibility for United if they continue to win their games the way they have so far. Ole has been fantastic so far and has reinforced this team to play attacking football the way the club loves to see. The players have also responded well and showing positive energy.
