Player Ratings: Win at Old Trafford against Leicester City 2-0

Old Trafford

Manchester United stayed at the top of the table with a win against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils won 2-0 at home against a resilient Leicester side to keep full points.

The United players swarmed the Leicester side for most of the game but failed break the deadlock in the first half. Both the goals were scored by second half substitutes Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini.

Again the match result was decided by tactical substitutions by Jose Mourinho. He certainely has some plans and tactics that has displayed Manchester United as the team to beat this season.

We certainly hope Manchester United has the magic this season to go till the end. We would surely like to see the Premier League trophy again at Old Trafford.

Another clean sheet for De Gea. Third for the season

Had very less to do but held composure with good thinking when the ball was around.

Stayed alert to save Mahrez’s low shot and King’s late effort which would given Leicester an away goal.

Defenders

1. Daley Blind: 6.0

[spacer height=”20px”]

Played as the left-back.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Provided some good crosses but mostly were wasteful.

Had some problems against a resurgent Leicester attack. Needs to raise his play and work rate.

Is not an actual in-position left-back as Luke Shaw.

2. Eric Baily: 7.0

Partnership with Jones getting better with each game.

Stayed composed in defence. United can count on him as the season progresses.

Held the backline with some good clearances.

3. Phil Jones: 7.5

Was strong against vardy throughout the game.

Strong and confident in the air.

Had some problems blocking Mahrez.

But held the defence to keep the Leicester attack at bay.

4. Antonio Valencia: 6.5

Captain for third straight game. Held his levelheadedness.

Was right-back for name only. He did not hold back to go forward.

But his crosses were wayward. Didn’t help much in attack.

Midfielders

1. Nemanja Matic: 7.5

Another ideal performance from the midfielder. Was at his best as always.

His tacking and passing was as accurate as ever.

Was pretty much successful in breaking down Leicester’s attack. Did exactly what is expected from a defensive midfielder.

2. Paul Pogba: 8.0

Is getting to play the role he was brought at Old Trafford for.

Had some great shots towards the opponent’s goal.

Kept the Foxes defense tickling with his passing and forward movement.

Showed his physical presence on the field.

3. Juan Mata: 7.0

Dictated the midfield play for the hosts at Old Trafford

Had a goal ruled out as offside.

Kept the attack flowing for the Red Devils.

4. Anthony Martial: 7.5

First start of the season after some great performances in the past two games.

Frequently came inside from the right wing.

One of the most consistent players in the team. Linked well with his attacking partners.

Grabbed another assist from a corner. Third in a row.

1. Romelu Lukaku: 6.0

Had a quiet game throughout.

Couldn’t get the better of Leicester’s defence.

Missed a penalty and few more good chances for a striker like him.

1. Marcus Rashford: 8.5 (Man Of The Match)

Had immediate impact on the game on his substitution. Scored within 3 minutes of his substitution.

Troubled the Leicester defense with his speed and frequent attacks.

Worthy performance to put him back on the starting line-up.

2. Marouane Fellaini: 7.5

Stayed as a super-sub. Scored a goal with Lingard’s assist.
