Wayne Rooney Reveals Who he Actually Wants as the Next Permanent United Manager and Its Not the Obvious Choice

Pochettino, Arsedevils

Wayne Rooney has advised Manchester United to rope in Mauricio Pochettino as their next manager. The D.C United star wasn’t entirely convinced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s six game winning streak. And clearly felt that United should only offer the Norwegian a chance if he continued to get positive results.

According to Wayne, Pochettino is the man United should ‘go all out for’ in the summer. He further revealed why the Argentinian would be a good fit at Manchester United.

“First of all you have to give Ole an opportunity and that’s a discussion that has to take place with the Glazers,”

he told  ESPN FC , speaking of Pochettino.

“But if I had the opportunity to appoint someone, I’d go all out for Pochettino.

I think Manchester United — certainly over the last 20, 30 years, since Alex Ferguson — have based themselves on youth players, young players, bringing players through.

I think [Pochettino] gets the best out of his players whether they are younger or older. He also gives the youth a chance.”

“You see some of the young players he has brought through at Tottenham, at Southampton that have gone on to play for the national team, so I think he ticks every box in terms of his quality as a coach, but also his willingness to give youth a chance.”

Pochettino has been heavily linked with a possible move to United by the end of this season. However, getting Pochettino would be the difficult part for United as his side sits in a favourable position than United who are outside the top four position.

Further, Solskjaer’s impressive United performances could become a  make him a contender. With the backing of United Hierarchy, especially Sir Alex Ferguson, Solskjaer would be trying his best to convince Ed Woodward and the Glazers that he deserves the job with the rumors about Pochettino ringing around.

Apart from discussing Pochettino to United links, Rooney credited his former United teammate for bringing in a feel good factor at the club which he felt was missing under Mourinho’s United.

“Enjoyment.”

said Rooney on being asked about the Ole’s effect at United.

“I think it wasn’t nice watching Manchester United over the last year and knowing the players weren’t happy, they weren’t enjoying it and I think all he’s done is say ‘go and play, go and express yourselves, and enjoy it.”

Manchester United’s leading goalscorer also had words of advice for Marcus Rashford, who already has five goals from six games under Solskjaer.

“When I went back to play for the national team against the USA, I spoke to Marcus and he was trying too much, he was trying too hard, he was working too hard, he was getting tired at the end of games.”

Rooney said.

“But the scary thing with Marcus, when he runs at you with the ball he’s impossible to defend and I reminded him to keep doing that, to just get the ball and run at defenders.”

Manchester United, who has won FA cup 12 times, travel to London to face 13 time winners Arsenal, what will be a fourth round tie between the FA Cup giants this friday night.
