Setting The Scene

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United go into this tie on the back of a marvelous 4-1 win away from home at CSKA Moscow on Wednesday in the Champions League.

[spacer height=”20px”]

United won their previous Premier League game at Southampton 1-0 last weekend.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace travel to Manchester again this week after a with a 5-0 thumping at Manchester City last weekend.

[spacer height=”20px”]

But this could be a tricky fixture for United after Roy Hodgson became the new manager for the Eagles a fortnight ago.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United This Season

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United currently sit atop the Premier League table alongside joint leaders Manchester City with 16 points from 6 games.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Manchester United have managed to keep five clean sheets in the opening six league fixtures thus far with the only blemish being two goals against Stoke City in the beginning of September.

[spacer height=”20px”]

United have beaten opposition goalkeepers a whopping 17 times since the Premier League begun this season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Reds stand unbeaten in nine games so far this season in all competitions. United also enter this match with a five match winning streak after a draw at Stoke.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Crystal Palace Fared So Far

[spacer height=”20px”]

Crystal Palace have made a worst possible start to the season sitting at the end of the Premier League table.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Eagles have lost all the league games so far with opponents scoring a total of 13 goals past their goalkeeper this season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Frank de Boar has been sacked already after losing the beginning four league games. The current manager Roy Hodgson didn’t show any improvement losing the previous two league games.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The only good that has occurred to Crystal Palace so far having qualified the third round of the Carabao Cup after winning against Huddersfield.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Eagles travel to Manchester in back-to-back weekends after being thrashed by Manchester City 5-0 in the previous week.

Team News And Injuries Updates

[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United

[spacer height=”20px”]

In the pre-match press conference, Jose Mourinho confirmed that Micheal Carrick will remain sidelined for Saturday’s clash against Crystal Palace.

[spacer height=”20px”]

However, Antonio Valencia may be able to play for the Reds after missing out on Wednesday’s CL clash with CSKA Moscow in the Russian capital.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rojo are out of contention with long term injuries. Also Paul Pogba remains out due to his hamstring injury until he recovers.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Moreover, Jose Mourinho provided no further update on Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones whether they have recovered from injury.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Crystal Palace

[spacer height=”20px”]

The news for Crystal Palace remains bad as they have lost their star striker Christian Benteke to injury.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Moreover, Roy Hodgson will also miss out James Tomkins and Ruben Loftus-Cheek due to injuries.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The Eagles star-man ex-Red Wilfred Zaha is likely to remain sidelined for Saturday’s clash also due to injury.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Bad news have become a regularity for Crystal Palace as their in-form defender Tim Fosu-Mensah is obviously ineligible as he is on loan from Manchester United.

[spacer height=”20px”]

However, the Glaziers may have their powerful striker Freddie Ladapo as he is in contention to feature against United, according to Hodgson.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Our Last Meeting

[spacer height=”20px”]

Our most recent clash with the Glaziers was very memorable especially for the Academy. Crystal Palace visited Old Trafford on the final day of the league season in May.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Jose Mourinho named the youngest side for United in Premier League history. Mourinho handed debuts to Demi Mitchell and Josh Harrop to start for United.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Current United midfielder Josh Harrop scored a goal in the tie with the match finishing 2-0 in United’s favour.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Angel Gomes came off the bench to score the other goal for United as the match ended at Old Trafford.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Match Referee

[spacer height=”20px”]

Mike Dean will officiate as the main man on the field, this being his first United game for the season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The man from Wirral will oversee his fifth Premier League match for this season.

[spacer height=”20px”]

The match referee will be assisted by Simon Long and Matthew Wilkes on the field. Stuart Attwell will be the fourth official for the match at Old Trafford.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Confirmed Line-Up

[spacer height=”20px”]

Jose Mourinho has made a few changes to starting XI from Wednesday’s match.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Phil Jones starts instead of Victor Lindelof. Antonio Valencia also starts after missing Wednesday’s match and also been named as the captain.

[spacer height=”20px”]

Fellaini starts in place of Herrera and Rashford in place of Martial.

[spacer height=”20px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho and his men will look to extend their winning run against Crystal Palace.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Meanwhile, Hodgson will look forward to end his teams lament with a win or atleast a draw at Old Trafford.

[spacer height=”30px”]

If United wins today’s tie, United will match a record of clean sheets that remains un-matched since 1997/98 season. United may equal the record of six clean sheets in seven matches from the start of the season.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Will United be able to maintain their unbeaten run?

[spacer height=”30px”]

Can United equal the previous record of clean sheets today?

[spacer height=”30px”]

It remains to be seen how the match rolls.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Stay tuned to get all the updates on Manchester United.
