Aaron Ramsey All Set To Follow In Mesut Ozil’s Footsteps Despite His Agency Dropping Mystic Tweet Yesterday

Ramsey, Ramsey Contract Extension, Ozil

Arsenal has been a victim of its players stalling contract talks with the club to finally land a bumper contract, since a long time, right from Arsene Wenger’s start to the end of his tenure. Last season, Mesut Ozil had held the club hostage into signing a new contract, being linked heavily with Manchester United last season, as his old contract was getting over this summer and it seems Aaron Ramsey follow suit.

The German attacking midfielder, who quit international football with Germany after their embarrassing exit from the World Cup, finally signed a contract extension with the North London club, is now earning a salary reported to be in excess of £300,000 a week. Now, it seems that Aaron Ramsey is ready to follow Ozil’s way to land himself a lucrative contract.

According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old Welshman is set to follow the example set by Mesut Ozil and leave a final decision about a new contract until January. The Wales international midfielder will be a free agent at the end of the 2018-19 season as he enters the last year of his current deal with the Gunners.

However, according to the speculations on the Ramsey contract extension saga, Avid Sports & Entertainment, the agency handling the Welshman’s contracts dropped a big hint yesterday. Although, no confirmation has been reported until now. The Arsenal fans are still waiting to receive the good news.

As of yet, there has been no agreement about a contract extension. The contract extension of Ramsey is worsening the situation at the Emirates and the fans are also getting restless. Moreover, various clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are keeping a close eye on the Aaron Ramsey waiting for his contract to end. If the transfer saga continues, he will soon be able to listen to offers from clubs in Europe, within or outside England, and could sign a pre-contract to join any club at the end of this season when he will be a free agent.

The Wales international could thus replicate what Mesut Ozil did with Arsenal last season, who kept stalling extending his contract with the North London club but eventually signed a lucrative contract, keeping him at the club till 2021. Ramsey is believed to try this same tactic, to earn himself what could turn out to be the most lucrative deal of his career, ever.

Unai Emery, the new Arsenal manager, is believed to be a fan of the Welsh midfielder, and if he got his way, Ramsey will stay at Arsenal at any cost. Besides, even the fans would want him to stay at the Emirates and not repeat the feat of Jack Wilshere joining West Ham. Speaking recently, though, the Gunners boss urged Ramsey to focus on his football and not on his deal negotiations.

“I spoke with him last week. I said, ‘I want you focused only on training and only on the match, you show us the capacity to help the team’

The contract is another thing for his agent and the club but we want and I need his focus only on training, only on the match and on his performance each day.

My focus is on the match and I want the player to be focused only on Saturday.

So that our players give our supporters quality and energy. And so they focus only on showing our capacity to find the win.”

In my opinion, Arsenal should try their best to make Aaron Ramsey stay at the club, giving him a little rise in his pay, around £200,000 to £220,000, but not bend their way in giving the Welshman a new contract, under Emery’s pressure, by offering anything more than £220,000.

Ramsey should lower his demands a little bit, and concentrate more on his performances on the pitch, as suggested by Emery himself, and who knows, might go on to add more trophies to his list, with Arsenal, other than the 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields
