Spurs vs United match preview and predicted line up

Spurs vs United, fa cup semi final united, united vs spurs, spurs wembley united, manchester united fa cup, fa cup

It’s time for FA Cup action as Tottenham Hotspurs are set to take on Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday. Although the Semis are held at neutral venue viz Wembley each year, Spurs have used Wembely as their home since the start of 2017/18 season and hence would be slight favourite heading into match.

United defeated Derby County, Yeovil town, Huddersfield, Brighton en route to semi-final while Spurs defeated AFC Wimbledon, Newport County, Rochdale, Swansea on their way to semis. So both team had relatively easy draw and will face the first real test against each other.[spacer height=”30px”]

In the last meeting between these teams in FA Cup in 2009, United defeated Spurs 2-1 . Both the teams have defeated each other at their home in PL this season with United losing 2-0 to Spurs during Sanchez’s first game for his new club.[spacer height=”30px”]

Manchester United made as many as 6 changes in their match against Bournemouth after their embarrassing defeat against West Brom. With no player having guaranteed spot in playing XI and 17 players starting in two different matches it would be interesting how United shape up. Hopefully,  United will turn up the way they did at second half at Eithad against City[spacer height=”30px”]

Here is the predicted line-up 4-3-3[spacer height=”30px”]

Goalkeeper : David de Gea[spacer height=”30px”]

As United’s keeper for domestic cups Sergio Romero was injured and is recovering, he will be replaced United’s numero uno keeper De Gea. He will be expected to show the same form in the FA Cup semi-final, which he has shown throughout the season.[spacer height=”30px”]

Defenders: Valencia(captain), Bailly, Smalling, Young[spacer height=”30px”]

Valencia will be back and will captain the side. While he will be at his usual right back position, he would be ably supported by Young on left flank. Smalling would form pairing with Bailly at the heart of defence. Together they need to keep things quiet against Kane, Ali and H.Son.[spacer height=”30px”]

Why Manchester United should be optimistic about winning the Premier League next season

[spacer height=”30px”]
Midfielders: Matic, Herrera and Pogba[spacer height=”30px”]

This is where Mourinho’s approach towards the game will be decided. Matic and Pogba picks themselves. The addition of Herrera relieves Pogba of defensive duties with Herrera’s ability to win tackles and retrieve balls. Thos would mean United are going for steady approach. However, should he be dropped then it would mean United go with another attacking player in form of Martial/Rashford in order to overcome Spurs at their home ground during the FA Cup semis.[spacer height=”30px”]

Attackers: Lingard, Sanchez and Lukaku

Lingard, Sanchez and Lukaku all pick themselves in this line up beacause of their form and recent instances of gelling up well. However, should Martial/Rashford find themselves starting then, Sanchez would be switched to Right and Lingard would play as CAM. [spacer height=”30px”]
