Manchester United Receive Injury Boost Regarding Phil Jones

Phil Jones

According to sources in England, Manchester United defender Phil Jones have suffered a setback with yet another injury.

In June 2011, Phil Jones joined Manchester United on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee of around £16.5m.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The English defender made his United debut in 2011 pre-season tour in a 3-1 win over Chicago Fire.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Phil Jones made his senior team debut for England in October 2011 against Montenegro in UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying round.

According to Manchester Evening News, Phil Jones have succumbed to another injury during England’s match against Germany.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The 21-year old defender from England, was taken off during the 0-0 draw against Germany with just 25 minutes into the match.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The English centre-back has been an integral part of Jose Mourinho’s team this season and is ever-present in the defence.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Phil Jones has returned to Manchester United for analysis and treatment after lasting for only 25 minutes during the match against Germany.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Initially, England manager Gareth Southgate pacified fears of anything serious by declaring the injury as ‘fine’ despite Jones limping off in the first half.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Southgate hoped that Phil would remain in the squad for their international friendly against Brazil.

“He seems fine, we’ve checked him out,”

[spacer height=”10px”]

“It’s something he’s been carrying, but he doesn’t seem to be any worse so that’s fine. We’ll see whether Phil stays with us.”

After initial analysis of the calf injury by United’s medical department, it is confirmed that the injury is not one to be worried of as reported by The Guardian.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The current injury seems to be a reoccurrence of an earlier injury Jones suffered during the Premier League match against Huddersfield last month.

[spacer height=”30px”]

However, after initial treatment Phil Jones is hoping to feature against Newcastle United this weekend.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Phil Jones has established himself as a first teamer for the Red Devils under the Portuguese.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Moreover, his partnership with Eric Baily has flourished this season with the two being the prime regulars as the backline for United.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The English centre-back has a very good physical presence on the field bringing his strength and huge body stature into play.

[spacer height=”30px”]

If Phil Jones is able to feature for the Reds, it will be a huge boost for Jose Mourinho’s side.

[spacer height=”30px”]

But, Rafa Benitez would be hopeful that Jones doesn’t line up against Newcastle united as his side has already struggled in scoring goals. And with Jones off the side, it will be much easier for his side.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Newcastle United travel to Old Trafford for their Premier League fixture after the international break.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Mourinho and his men would want to get full points and reduce the deficit between Manchester City and United.

[spacer height=”30px”]

The urge will be more after their recent defeat against Chelsea before the international break and falling behind 8 points from the league table leaders.

[spacer height=”30px”]

Hope that United regain the pace and go on for the title challenge.

[spacer height=”30px”]

GGMU….!!!!
