UPDATE | Manchester United Provide Crucial Injury Update on Both Martial and Lingard After The PSG Clash

Lingard, Martial injury, lingard injury, United Vs PSG

Ole’s Manchester United got themselves a reality check after their two nil humbling at the hands of Paris Saint Germain at Old Trafford. The defeat wasn’t the only problem for United, with both Martial and Lingard limping off late in the first half.

After a very defensive first half performance with chances few and far between, United seemingly “bottled” the first leg by conceding goals pretty quickly.

Lingard went down the tunnel struggling with his hamstring while Martial is presently dealing with his groin. Martial’s groin had restricted him Earlier in the season as well.

Results are awaited on the scans and tests of the respective injuries, with United fans and Ole hoping the damage is not for long and they would be desperately needed back for the Chelsea game.

Unable to delve much deeper in the severity of the injury suffered by the duo, Solskjaer said :

“Jesse and Anthony give us something, let’s hope they’re not too serious,”

“They’re muscle injuries, so we’ll just have to wait a couple of days.”

“They [PSG] had the momentum after the first goal and controlled the game. You could see that we hadn’t played at this level for a while and we will have to learn. It was an experience that can go either way, it’s not going to be a season defining one, it’s one we have to learn from”

Both of them apparently are a doubt against Chelsea, with Ole’s two thirds of the first choice strike force being wiped out.

Neither Sanchez nor Mata make a difference after coming on, which will have another headache for Ole to deal with.

Rashford had shown a bit of the much needed fighting spirit with a shot from wide, but PSG efficiently succeeded in nullifying him and United’s biggest threat in the form of Pogba by having him marvelously marked all through out the game by Marquinhos.

With Pogba suspended for the away leg, it is an all uphill task, and if neither of Lingard nor Martial make it back in time, United could well be looking towards another early exit from the Champions League.

Whereas the same could be said for Kimpembe, the scorer of the opening goal, when he tackled Rashford pretty rashly in the second half before the first goal.

Di Maria was booed by the United fans and even had a bottle of beer thrown at him, but it only ended up igniting the fire as he was instrumental in both the goals.
