Mourinho might loose a Defender if a deal gets finalized with La Liga Player

Marcos Rojo of United

What a transfer window it has been for all the teams in the Europe. Whether it is a record breaking transfer fee paid for a goalkeepers or the biggest and most unexpected transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, it has been a thrilling transfer window. But it has not been a very good one for Jose Mourinho and United, who have still not managed to sign a solid center back that they hoped for.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]After the end of World Cup, Jose was hell-bound to create a new defense line and sign two center backs. He even shortlisted four defenders for the purpose and was sure that he would be able to sign at least one of them. The shortlisted players were Harry Maguire, Yerry Mina, Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Our hopes came crashing down as none of these deals finalized by the Portuguese. Boateng joined PSG, Leicester doesn’t want to let Maguire go, Alderweireld was close to negotiations but the talks broke down, and Barcelona offered Mina only if United agreed for a swap deal for Pogba.[spacer height=”30px”]

This brought us to the last day of the transfer window, which have forced Mourinho to make a panic move to sign a defender. On the last day of the transfer window, Manchester United have made bid on the Uruguayan defender, Diego Godin of Atletico Madrid.[spacer height=”30px”]

Godin seems to be keen on staying in La Liga, despite a £22.5m bid by United, just enough to trigger his release clause.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]Although this seemed very far fetched, this raises questions with the present defense line of Red Devils. If United do sign another defender in this transfer window, it would mean that they would have to let at least one of their major defenders.[spacer height=”30px”]

This simply points to the fact that Marcus Rojo might be allowed to leave the club if they sign another defender.[spacer height=”30px”]

Marcus Rojo has been in the interest of Everton and Wolves since the start of the transfer window. And it is speculated that he may be allowed to leave by the end of this transfer window.[spacer height=”30px”]

Rojo caught the eye of many in the world with his performances in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. But ever since joining the club, it hasn’t been a good four years for him as his tenure at United has been very unimpressive. He has been injury-prone and unreliable in front of goal, and his performance in this year’s FIFA World Cup didn’t helped his case.[spacer height=”30px”]

[spacer height=”30px”]If Mourinho do manage to sign Godin somehow, it won’t be a loss to see Rojo leave, as Godin has been hailed as one of the best defenders in the world, and having him in the team could really provide the back bone to the defense that Jose Mourinho has been trying to strengthen.[spacer height=”30px”]

Whatever happens is yet to be seen as the transfer window closes very shortly and Mourinho would be able to see a clearer picture of the team by the end of the night.[spacer height=”30px”]
