Deal ON ? Yannick Carrasco’s Agent Drops Huge Transfer Hint After Arsenal Make Formal Offer Today

Yannick Carrasco move to Arsenal

According to reports from Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Arsenal are looking to sign Belgian international winger Yannick Carrasco.

Arsenal have been linked with Yannick Carrasco since September, and are reported to be seriously considering a move for the winger. Unai Emery has made no secrets about his need for quality wingers. Speaking after Arsenal beat Cardiff on Tuesday, Emery said, “Generally speaking, we need wingers.”

Wingers have really been the main area for business in this transfer window for the gunners. It looked certain for a while that a deal for Ivan Perisic would be agreed upon, but Inter Milan blocked any potential deals because of Arsenal’s unwillingness to do a permanent deal.

However, a loan deal of Barcelona winger Denis Suarez looks done, with Emery himself saying,

“And if you have a player like Denis, I know him because he played for me at Sevilla. His quality is this.”

Despite this, Emery is still hunting for another winger. In the process, he has turned towards his long time target Yannick Carrasco, who now plies his trade in the Chinese Super League with Dalian Yifang. In what is his debut season in Asia, Yannick Carrasco has scored seven times and provided nine assists in 26 games.

However, a training ground bust up in November involving teammate Jin Pengxiang, which left the Chinese requiring hospital treatment for a broken nose and the Belgian winger with a £6000 fine, has left his Asian stint in limbo.

Carrasco has been very unhappy in China as a result, and Carrasco’s agent, Christophe Henrotay, said,

“There’s plenty of interest in Yannick from all over Europe because his family are having problems adapting to China,” Christophe Henrotay told Inter Dipendenza.

“He wants to be honest with them, and it’s for this reason that he’s talked to the club, informing them that he isn’t 100 percent focused because of his family’s difficulties [in adapting to China].

“There’s the possibility that Dalian reward this honesty and talk to the clubs interested in him.”

He then went on add what the difficulty was in getting the deal over the line saying,

“Everything is possible but it seems difficult to do.

“It would need decisive and rapid movement by the interested clubs involved to discuss and deal with the current club of Carrasco.”

The Mirror has reported that Yifang demanded £35m from Arsenal for Yannick Carrasco, but Arsenal couldn’t afford it. However, recently Arsenal have tried to get a deal over the line that would involve Yannick Carrasco moving to the Emirates on loan, with a permanent switch following in the summer. Yifang are said to be open to the switch as long as they can guarantee a replacement, per Terreur.

Arsenal are reported to be trying hard to bring Carrasco to the Emirates, although no one from the Yannick Carrasco camp has yet travelled to London, as per Terreur.

DailyMail reports that, due to Arsenal’s dire financial situations, Yannick Carrasco would likely have to take a pay cut from his £170,000-a-week salary to move to the Emirates.

If Arsenal can pull off the signing of Carrasco before the end of the deadline, it will be a big capture for them. Carrasco’s performance in Europe has always been clinical and consistent, with 20 goals in 103 games for Monaco and 23 goals in 124 games for Atletico Madrid.

He also shocked everyone by making Belgium’s World Cup squad despite playing in China. Arsenal are lacking quality in the wide attacking areas, often having to rely on an out-of-form Alex Iwobi or an out-of-position Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Yannick Carrasco would bring the element of flair and physicality that Arsenal currently lack. AC Milan are also said to be interested in the winger, and the Gunners would have to act fast if they want to get their man.
