The Time Has Come | Midfielder Bids Adieu To The Emirates As He Seeks New Challenges In His Career

Ramsey, Arsedevils, Aaron Ramsey contract extension, Aaron Ramsey

After 11 years with the Gunners, Aaron Ramsey is set to leave Arsenal and travel to Italy, where he will be playing for the Serie A giants, Juventus.

With the title race cooling down, the Premier League news doesn’t fail to find an amusing topic to talk about. While it may not be as intriguing as the title race between Liverpool and Manchester City, it is a piece of news that might bring tears to the eyes of Arsenal fans.

The transfer window is fast approaching and with that, we see and hear about numerous players leaving their clubs to test their strength in another club or country. Some are noteworthy due to the incredible sums of money that are being paid for them, while other transfers feature players who will end up leaving their clubs after numerous years.

In our story, the amount of money will not play as big of a role as the fact that we will see Aaron Ramsey leaving Arsenal after 11 long years.

Aaron Ramsey, born on December 26th, 1990 in Wales, started off his football career in Cardiff, from where he moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2008. After signing, he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest and Cardiff, but remained a member of the Arsenal squad.

His loan spells lasted up until 2011 when he finally got a chance to play for the club, where he got a permanent spot as a “Gunner”. In all these 11 years since joining Arsenal, Ramsey racked up 371 appearances, scored 65 goals and added 65 assists.

With Arsenal, Ramsey won 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields, but sadly never got a chance to win the league. Nonetheless, Ramsey was happy at his club, but like all good things, even his journey with Arsenal had to come to an end.

Aaron Ramsey waved his final goodbye to the Arsenal fans following Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Brighton, which demolishes all hopes for the Gunners of finishing in the top four. While his club did not manage to perform as expected, Ramsey sadly couldn’t help them, as he was still sidelined due to a hamstring injury which prevented him from making a “farewell appearance”. Still, he was not forgotten by his club, who made a real effort to thank Aaron Ramsey for his services at the club.

In an interview with SkySports, Ramsey stated:

“Obviously very emotional. It’s been a hell of a journey, 11 years of my life”

“So much has happened in that, when I look back. You can tell by my voice, how much it means to me. So I’m just grateful for the opportunity to play for this great club and spend so many years here”

“I spent 11 years here, came at 17, a boy. And now I leave a man. I’ve got a family, wife and kids. So much has happened, I’m just grateful for the opportunity here.”

While his story with Arsenal ends now, Ramsey’s football career is far from over. Next season, he will join Juventus where he will link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of Allegri’s team.

Although, Juventus suffered an early exit from the Champions League this season, they seem to be working hard to leave a mark in the UCL next season. Moreover, with the addition of Aaron Ramsey’s talent, Juventus will surely be a much stronger team next time out.

Alongside Ramsey, Arsenal will also lose Peter Cech, who has decided to retire at the end of the season. When asked about Ramsey, Cech told SkySports:

“When you have someone who has spent more than 10 years in the same club, these are the core of the Arsenal dressing room, the Arsenal club.”

“Losing a player like that is always a big loss for the club, everybody. When he came from Cardiff, nobody really knew what a great player the club had brought in, and I think he gave everything he could all those 11 years.”

“It’s really a shame that today he could not be on the pitch, because everything he has done he deserved to be on the pitch today and maybe the score would have been better.”

In the end, it may be the end of Ramsey’s story at Arsenal, however, we will still be able to watch him play, only this time in the Italian Serie A.
