50 days in his reign as Arsenal’s new manager, Unai Emery has spoken highly of Aaron Ramsey, a player whose future at the club seemed uncertain for a couple of months now. The Welsh international’s contract is due to expire in the summer of 2019 and the new Arsenal boss believes that he’s an important player for the club.
Being the club’s player of the season and scoring 11 goals in 30 appearances as a midfielder is no easy feat. And after scoring the winning goal for last year’s FA Cup triumph for his club, Aaron Ramsey once again proved his quality for Arsenal this season.

“We are communicating, I’m confident he’s not at the end of his contract, he has one and a half years to go.
We want him to stay because he is one of the guys who has been here for a long time and will be an important player in the future for the club.”
However, with fitness issues and competition from new signings, Aaron Ramsey would need to do his best to show Unai Emery that he deserves a new contract at Arsenal.
Emery’s spell at Arsenal has been so far so good with the club making 5 new signings and winning an impressive 8-0 victory against Boreham Wood in the pre-season. However, Ramsey’s situation is one which needs attention. For a player with his quality, letting him go for free to another club when his contract expires next year would not be a prudent decision. If Aaron Ramsey has no future for the club under Emery’s watch, then now is the time for him to be sold to get the best deal for his true value.

When the new Arsenal boss was asked for his opinion on the 27-year-old Welsh during the press conference ahead of the club’s first pre-season game, Emery said:
“I am very happy with him. Every training is with the ambition I want, working with quality and the competitive spirit I want.
I want to work with him. His future is a question for the player and club.
I said to Ivan Gazidis, Raúl Sanllehí and Sven Mislintat that he’s an important player for me.”
Personally, I believe a player of Ramsey’s quality should be kept at all costs. It was a great honour when during December 2015, former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard hailed Ramsey as
“the best attacking midfielder in the Premier League”.

After 327 appearances and 10 years at the club, Aaron Ramsey has helped the club win 3 FA Cups and 3 Community Shields. The Arsenal website’s first team biography series rightly states that Ramsey possesses “a mixture of tireless energy, strong technique, tigerish tackling and quick transitions.” Who can forget his brilliant goal against CSKA Moscow or his hat-trick against Everton last season. Aaron Ramsey is a player who deserves to stay and be considered as the new captain for the club subsequent to Koscienly’s leg injury.
