Arsenal Have Made Huge Decision On Matteo Guendouzi’s Future

Guendouzi, Arsedevils

Arsenal are set to offer starlet Matteo Guendouzi a new bumper deal that would see him earn almost twice as much of what he earns currently, as per the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman was a gem discovered by Sven Mislintat, a result of the last scouting he made for the Gunners. With humble beginnings, Guendouzi moved from Lorient to London as a nobody and now is valued above £30 million. With a bill of just £7.5 million spent on him, the ex-Lorient man is a result of elite scouting and great business.

The youngster impressed new boss Unai Emery during preseason and was this awarded a starting role in Arsenal’s Premier League openers against defending Champions Manchester City. Despite the loss, the French U-21 international stuck out as a talking point due to a memorable performance.

It was been uphill ever since then. Guendouzi has managed to show his worth and is challenging Granit Xhaka for his starting role. At just 20 years old, this is a clear sign that his ceiling is well above an average youngster.

Which is exactly why the Londoners are lining up a contract extension for him which would extend his deal that expires in 2022 to 2024. This would leave the club with a great room of maneuverability in case big offers arrive for him and also to preserve his market value.

The fresh contract is said to be worth around £70,000-per-week, almost double of his current deal of £40,000-per-week.

The Emirates outfit wish to secure the futures of their key youngsters so that the trend of letting stars run down their contracts can be avoided early on, which is why the talented youngster is being offered fresh terms only a year after signing his first contract. Clearly, they do not want to risk the possibility of losing the midfielder to a rival club.

The 20-year-old proved vital in Arsenal’s run in the Europa League last season. Though he scored just 1 goal, Guendouzi’s influence goes beyond that. It is very likely that top clubs will be after him in a few years. So the North Londoners are doing themselves a favour by tying his future down at the Emirates.
