“Partey” time as Arsenal Claim Victory Over Leicester City: How Arsenal Players Fared Against Leicester City

Arsenal vs Leicester, Arsenal Leicester City Post Match

The Arsenal player ratings are out for the Premier League match against Leicester City. Arsenal were at home, playing to reclaim the 4th spot, and with a chance to win 5 games in a row. All the aspects of their game against Leicester City were fulfilled in the 2-0 win as Partey, Lacazette goals were enough to seal the deal.

Looking at the importance of the match, the young Arsenal team started strongly against the visitors. They were rewarded within the 11th minute of the game, as Thomas Partey headed home a Martinelli corner beautifully for the 1st goal of the match.

Rest of the 1st half was also dominated by the home side, with rare but highly dangerous attempts on goal from the visitors. The sync between Arsenal players was quite visible in the match as they dominated the possession and kept the opponents at bay.

The second half was also very entertaining for the home fans. Arsenal controlled the game and a 59th-minute penalty by Lacazette ensured 3 points in the match. The win allowed Arsenal to take the 4th spot in the league table and also managed to score a season-double over the Foxes. Arteta seemed pleased with the clean sheet and importantly 2 “new” goal-scorers in the match.

Arsenal Player Ratings Against Leicester City

Starting XI:

Aaron Ramsdale (GK) – 7.0: Shrugging off the “below-par” performances of the last two games, Ramsdale was instrumental in the match. His saves proved vital in denying any possible comeback to Leicester City.

Cedric Soares (RB) – 5.5: He played his part well but looking at team performance and contribution, he definitely needs some improvement in the defensive area. The Midlanders enjoyed most of the offensive build-ups from the right side.

Ben White (CB) – 7.5: The positioning and interceptions were up to the mark. The young defender again proved his worth with a solid defensive display and some clever passes for the offence.

Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) – 6.5: Gabriel lowered his percentage of mis-passes and was more precise with the ball. Defensively, he had very little to do and he held his position well.

Kieran Tierney (LB) – 6.5: As the opponents were more focused on the right wing, Tierney had some freedom to surge forward from the left side. The Scot got the chance to connect with the front line and proved to be an extra piece available in the opposition half.

Midfield and Attack :

Thomas Partey (CM) – 9.0: He was the superstar of the game for the Gunners. As expected, he did score a goal in the match and could have had a hat-trick. One long-range shot struck the woodwork and the 2nd header was also on target but resulted in the penalty due to handball.

Granit Xhaka (CM) – 6.0: Xhaka seemed more involved in the game if compared to his previous outings. He was involved in the attack but more focused on the defensive end.

Martin Odegaard (CM) – 9.0: Certainly a great display from the Norway international. He created most of the chances for the Gunners. The vision and passing was a treat to the fans. It reminded them of the “old Arsenal” playing days for many Emirate faithfuls.

Gabriel Martinelli (LAM) – 6.0: He got the nod ahead of ESR and made some impressive runs. He got an assist in the match but the energetic Brazilian was more effective in the 2nd half.

Bukayo Saka (RAM) – 7.5: The young Englishman is on the rise and delivering regularly for the team. He was present in offence and defence in the game.

Alexandre Lacazette (ST) – 7.0: Score a goal after 9-goalless games. Otherwise, he was a bit distant from the action. The Gunners boss was more impressed though with Lacazette’s display.

Substitutes in Arsenal vs Leicester:

Emile Smith Rowe (6.5): Replaced Martinelli for fresh legs up front. He could have scored a goal for the team but was denied by the Foxes’ shot-stopper.

Nicolas Pepe (NA): Substituted in for Saka late in the game.
