Arsenal have found a new target in the form of Hector Herrera to be a potential replacement of out-of-contract Aaron Ramsey, according to Nicolò Schira of Gazetta dello Sport.
The Mexican has been the first name on the team sheet for the Portuguese giants for more than half-a-decade making 219 appearances and scoring 29 goals for them.
The player is a free agent at the end of the season and Arsenal are believed to have shown interest in the Mexico international along with some Italian clubs like Roma and Inter.
The North-London club have been trying to find a potential replacement for the Welshman who is going to be out of contract this July, with Denis Suarez of Barcelona also linked with the switch.
According to Nicolo Schira of La Gazetta dello Sport, Arsenal have shortlisted the Mexican as he has been thought of a replacement of out-of-contract Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who is believed to have signed pre-contract with Juventus, with Roma and Inter also interested in the 28-year-old’s services.

The hunt for the Welshman’s replacement continues for Arsenal this transfer season as they travel to West Ham for a North London Derby.
Arsenal’s treatment of the Aaron Ramsey contract saga has proven to be a big issue to deal with. His professionalism and attacking work-rate are one of the two things that the board will find hard to find in.
On the other side, Hector Herrera, a great person who is well known for his consistency and hard-work. But everybody knows that he is not the perfect Ramsey replacement simply because he does not have the offensive output that the 28-year-old Welshman generates.

Another reason against the signing of Herrera is the fact that he will block the way of development of youth products graduating from the academy. The likes of Joe Willock and Charlie Gilmour, who have shown great promise will find limited opportunities.
And Arsenal already have many players in that position. The likes of Matteo Guedouzi and Lucas Torreira already have the qualities that the Porto-man possesses.
However, Hector Herrera s experience can come crucial along with his abilities. His physique already tells us that he won’t have any difficulties adapting to the Premier League.
Overall, Hector Herrera won’t be a bad recruitment but is he the perfect Ramsey replacement?
