€55 Million Rated Arsenal Midfielder Desparately Wanted By Serie A Giants While The Gunners Are Reluctant To Let Him Go

Accordig to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, AC Milan are desperate to sign Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer. While the Gunners have made it clear that the Uruguayan international is not for sale, AC Milan boss Marco Giampaolo has made the holding midfielder his number one priority in the transfer window.

This news will worry Arsenal, as Lucas Torreira is reportedly unsettled in England. Metro also reported that Torreira’s Italian girlfriend Vittoria Repetto is not enjoying her life in England and is looking to move to her home country.

In a recent interview, Torreira said:

“England? I don’t know if there are many things that I like. I think I was doing better in Italy. England is a completely different world, a very large country. It cost me a lot to learn the language to be able to relate with colleagues and people.”

“It becomes very difficult if you can’t have dialogue. And then, there is time. You go out in the morning and it is cloudy, you come home in the afternoon and it is cloudy. The sun is a bit strange in these parts, we are not from here and we are used to always, or almost always, the sun. Over the years I will adapt.”

Torreira moved to Arsenal just 12 months ago in a £26m move from Sampdoria, and has enjoyed an impressive start to his Premier League career in his first season. He has appeared in 50 games for Arsenal in all competitions, and has scored 2 goals and set up 5 more. Therefore, any move for Torreira is likely to cost Milan around £40m.

Now, Metro is reporting that AC Milan would like to include Ivorian midfielder Frank Kessie in the deal to bring Lucas Torreira to San Siro. This may involve a direct swap deal, or may involve the Italian club selling Kessie to somewhere else to raise funds for the Torreira transfer.

This deal is a hard one to get over the line, due to various reasons. Kessie has been a vital player for AC Milan last season, playing in 42 matches all season. Therefore, while he has shown his willingness to test himself in the Premier League, he will be reluctant to move so soon after permanently joining AC Milan only recently.

It is also highly unlikely that Unai Emery would want to sell one of his most promising players after just one season due to some rumored discontent, especially for a player who is valued £18m less than Torreira by Transfermarkt.
