Breaking: Arsenal Sign £36m Rated La Liga Midfielder; Deal Confirmed And to be Announced in a ‘Matter of Hours’

Martin Odegaard to Arsenal Confirmed

Arsenal are close to announcing the signing of Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid, the player who had a loan spell at Emirates for the second half of the season. It was believed that Odegaard would be a preferred option after the departure of Isco from Madrid. But no bids have come so far for Isco and as it stands he stays at Real Madrid.

This has now allowed the Spanish Giants to consider selling their young midfielder, and Arsenal are said to have concluded a move for the 22-year old. The player had 14 games at Arsenal in the Premier League and Gunner’s boss Mikel Arteta is extremely fond of the player around whom he intends to build his Arsenal team around.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed that both the clubs have agreed on the teams for the deal to take place, Odegaard has a great relationship with Arteta and Arsenal board members so it’s only a matter of time until both the clubs officially announce the move. As reported by Goal and Sky Sports, Real Madrid and Arsenal have agreed on a fee in the region of £30m plus bonuses with the player already concluding his medicals at London Colney today.

Arsenal have earlier concluded an outgoing deal for homegrown starlet Joe Willock with Newcastle United for a reported fee of £25 million which has apparently enables them to get the Odegaard deal over the line with Real Madrid. If Arsenal’s opening day loss is anything to go by, they desperately need a creative force to drive them forward and Arteta and co believe Odegaard to be the man to do so.

James Maddison was another name on the Gunner’s transfer wish list to fill up the attacking midfielder role but the Foxes are standing firm on their steep demand for the english midfielder which is somewhere upwards of £60m cash upfront. Subsequently Arsenal have decided to follow up elsewhere and that has led them to conclude a move for the Norway international.

The situation at Arsenal is presently a mess to say the least, Mikel Arteta and the club need to do a lot to restore some amount of faith among the supports in the form of new signings and arrivals and frankly, time is not on their side. They need to move quickly and they need to move big, or the results like against Brentford are bound to be a weekly occurrence.

Martin Odegaard even though clearly young and lots to prove, undoubtedly has the potential to deliver at Emirates and his loan spell at Arsenal did show signs of that potential which may help the team rise from its present ashes in the coming years. Odegaard has always been open to a permanent move to Emirates and its looks like the Norwegian will now be calling the North London his home for the next few years.

Gunners have so far signed Ben White, Sambi Lokanga and Nuno Tavares this summer and will be hoping to add a few more names to this list before the transfer window slams shut. With the Odegaard deal now completed Arsenal will look to shift their attention to complete a move for Sheffield United keeper Aaron Ramsdale next.
