As the club’s board provide Mikel Arteta with the tools he needs for the much-documented “rebuild,” they are also working behind the scenes to lay strong foundations for years to come.
The North London outfit, with the help of academy manager and former defender Per Mertesacker, signed plenty of ‘under the radar’ players last summer, as the majority of established players were sent out on loan to give them the taste of men’s football.
With Arsenal’s reserve squad marginally avoiding relegation in the last campaign, that plan has been far from a success. But with the acquisition of Mika Biereth, the Gunners are making sure to get the balance right.
Although Biereth has not had much experience at the under 23 level, Nikolaj Moller’s departure to German third-tier side Victoria Koln will mean that he can see plenty of action for Arsenal’s development squad in the upcoming season.
He will naturally hope to make the step-up to the first team in a few years’ time. As, giving youngsters their due chances have been part of Arsenal’s DNA for several decades.
Arsenal signing 18-year-old Fulham striker Mika Biereth is exciting. Becoming a club young players entrust their future to will reap massive rewards if we can combine it with success.

As former legendary manager, Arsene Wenger himself said, “We (Arsenal) don’t buy superstars, we make them,” that can certainly turn out to be true again in Biereth’s case
Personal viewpoint
I am excited about the signing of Biereth, even though the fans would have to be patient. He is still not ready for the step-up to arguably the world’s best league and that’s understandable given he’s just 18.

It appears like the Gunners are building something exciting for the future. They have also been linked with Chelsea’s Valentino Livramento and Everton’s Thierry Small, who are future Premier League stars in the making.
If they do end up adding the duo to their reserve squad on top of Biereth, it will certainly show their newfound ambition.
