SKY SPORTS Reveals Arsenal are close to agreeing new terms with Aaron Ramsey but there is a huge twist

[spacer height=”20px”]Despite various rumours of Aaron Ramsey agreeing new terms with Arsenal, talks are still going on between the Welsh midfielder and the club, according to Sky Sports. The midfielder has less than a year left on his contract, and Arsenal have not yet reached any agreement with their 2017/18 player of the season.

Securing the future of Ramsey seems to be on top of the priority list for Arsenal’s new head coach, Unai Emery as they continue to bolster their squad for the Spaniard’s first season in Emirates.

Last week Emery talked about Ramsey and his qualities in a sudden press conference at London Colney and here is what he had to say about Ramsey in training:

“I’m very happy with him. Everyday every training session he is with the ambition I want. He is working with quality. I want to work with him.”

When asked about the midfielder’s current contract situation at the club, the Spaniard said:

“This is one question for the player, the club, but my opinion – I said to them (Ivan Gazidis, Raul Sanllehi and Sven Mislintat) – I think he is one important player for me.”

Having already seen the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere enter the last year of their contracts, and the latter two stars already leaving the club in a free transfer for rival clubs, Arsenal fans would like to see their longest serving player sign his new contract very soon, specially before the Premier League season begins.

With the arrivals of Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi, Gunners would want Ramsey to stay and challenge for trophies next season, under the guidance of Unai Emery, in his very first season at the London club.

With fans all tensed and awaiting an official announcement regarding the contract situation of Aaron Ramsey, one Twitter account claimed on Monday morning that the midfielder had agreed a new five-year deal worth £150,000 a week and with £2.5m signing on fee. However, soon that claim was denied by the agency that represents Ramsey, Avid Sports & Entertainment Group.

In my opinion, all these reports indicate that talks are being held between the player and club for a new contract, but they haven’t been able to agree on the terms for a new contract as of now and the club seems to be treading on dangerous waters right now with time fast running out.

However, positive news can be expected within the next few weeks since Ramsey knows his importance in a club like Arsenal and visa versa. Arsenal should really try and get the paper-works sorted and get the deal over the line at any cost, since he has been one of the stand out performer for the club for more than half a decade.

Ramsey’s importance can be highlighted with the fact that last season, he started 32 games under Arsene Wenger, in his last season as the club manager, and he won the Player of the Season for Arsenal last season. With the new manager already praising Ramsey and his qualities on the pitch, it can be safely said that 27-year-old player will remain an important first team player under Emery for the next season, as well as for many seasons to come.
