Arsenal target Wilfred Zaha looks certain to leave Selhurst Park this summer after telling the club he wants a move and there will likely be plenty of offers for the 26-year-old. The skilful Ivory Coast International doesn’t need any introduction in the Premier League having scored 10 goals and 5 assists in as many games this season.
The renowned sports radio station talkSPORT states that Spurs are baulking at the price-tag slapped on the Ivorian by his current club Palace. Palace reportedly want around £100 million for Wilfred Zaha this summer but Daniel Levy is not prepared to spend that for the Ivorian this summer. So, that would seemingly free up a pathway for Arsenal to try and land Wilfred Zaha but the price is also set to stand in their way.
Palace are not willing to let their star man go on the cheap but if Wilfred Zaha begins to push for it, they may have no choice. Zaha spoke about his future earlier this month and was adamant that he wanted to play Champions League football saying :
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] “I’m too ambitious. And not ambitious just to play for a top club, but to win things at club level and with the Ivory Coast,” he told the Mail. “For me to be better, to achieve what I know I am capable of, I have to aim to play at the very highest level, to win trophies. “I’m blessed to have come this far in my playing career. But I feel like there is so much more I have to offer.” [/perfectpullquote]
Arsenal are willing to wait until the end of the transfer window to see if Palace are prepared to drop their asking price. Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table this season to qualify for the Europa League for the third successive season.
However, Unai Emery’s men could still qualify for the Champions League if Arsenal beat Chelsea FC in the Europa League final later this month in Baku.
I think, Wilfred Zaha could be the dynamic winger that the Gunners are desperately lagging since the departure of Chilean Alexis Sanchez. Zaha has the best qualities a winger must have. He is Pacy, Agile, tricky to deal with and can skip past the onrushing defenders with much ease.
He is the kind of frontmen Unai Emery would love to have in his team, someone who could efficiently compliment his attacking duo while fitting in with the teams philosophy seamlessly. Wilfred Zaha, on most occasions likes to cut in and face defenders for a one on one. He has the confidence, skillset and mindset to become a Gunner Legend.
