BREAKING | David Ornstein Claims Reports About Unai Emery Having Told Mesut Ozil to Leave ‘are not just rumours’ and WHY

David Ornstein

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has suggested Mesut Ozil that it would be best for him to leave the club, according to David Ornstein in BBC Radio 5.

Ozil signed a £350,000 contract almost a year back but has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Unai Emery, with sometimes being left out of the match-day squads altogether.

And David Ornstein was there elucidating the rumours regarding the German stating:

“They’re not just rumours. Unai Emery has suggested to Mesut Ozil that it would be best for him to leave the club. And the hierarchy of the club feels that they would like him to move on.”

“I think that’s mainly financially driven for a player earning £350,000 per week but also related to that is the fact he is not performing anywhere near the level when he has played on a consistent basis as we know he can produce from the past.”

The recent comments by David Ornstein signal that Ozil’s relationship with Unai Emery has taken a bad turn and the club are also looking to subsidize his wages, given that the German has not performed up to the level required under Emery.

However, David Ornstein insisted that the German midfielder has put in extra shifts behind closed doors to get fit and get back into the team. David Ornstein said:

“He has no desire to leave, Mesut Ozil, so he won’t be leaving in the January transfer window,”

“I’m told he’s working extremely hard to get himself fit. Reports coming out of London Colney is that he’s now doing extra gym work and he has a positive demeanour. He’s determined to work his way back into the side.”

“The word was he wasn’t doing a lot of the extra work most players were, and he is now. I’ve heard positive things about his behaviour, his commitment, his relationships with the teammates.”

“I don’t think that’s ever been a problem, but he’s clearly out of favour with the manager and that’s a very expensive problem for the club to have.”

The North London club have a big issue on their hands. With Ozil willing to fight for his place in the starting-11 but the manager not fancying him to play, it remains to be seen who wins this player-manager battle.

The Ozil Saga continues as Arsenal host Chelsea for a London derby this Saturday.

Mesut Ozil has been an important player for Arsenal since his arrival in 2013. His play-making skills are an important factor on which Arsenal are sometimes reliant on.

But, it is also a fact that the play-maker has been rather inconsistent with his performances at times. And so his performances do not justify the ridiculous wages that are being paid to the player.

The new regime under Emery are trying their best for the team to create equality in the squad, and if given enough time and money, he can get us the old Arsenal back.

Whether Ozil stays or not, depends on the player and manager. However, despite all this speculation and bad press, all of us here at Arsedevils and Arsenal fans around the world in general will hope that Emery can sort things out soon enough, so that Arsenal can move away from these unnecessary issues of the pitch and focus on what is important; challenging for titles like they should.
