4-2-3-1 With Saka, Martinelli & Ødegaard| Team News, Injury Updates, and Predicted Starting Lineup – Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal vs Everton

Here is the team news as Arsenal take on a buoyant Everton side on the final day of the season at the Emirates stadium. North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are currently fighting to finish in the Premier League top four. Only one of them will make it and Spurs are the favourites to book a Champions League berth as they are two points ahead of Arsenal, after their surprise loss to Newcastle last week.

The Gunners will hope for a miracle from Norwich City who take on Spurs on the last matchday. Arsenal and Everton have played 49 matches between each other, with Arsenal winning 30 of them. Their games tend to be high scoring with average goals of around 3.02 (Stats via FCtables.com). In the reverse fixture, Everton ended their eight-game winless run by coming from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1. Demarai Gray scored the winner while Martin Odegaard scored for Arsenal early.

Injury/Suspension List:

Everton duo Jarrad Branthwaite and Solomon Rondon will be back after serving suspensions for the Palace game owing to their red cards against Brentford. Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph are out injured. Ben Godfrey and Donny Van De Beek who were out with injuries have joined training since last week and should be back in action.

Andre Gomes was given the nod in midfield alongside Abdoulaye Doucouré last time out. Nathan Patterson and Andros Townsend remain confined to the treatment room. Dominic Calvert-Lewin who was seen stretching himself a bit in the final stages of the Brentford game is fit to play and is a huge boost for the Everton attack.

Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney will be watching from the reserves bench nursing their long term injuries. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was withdrawn with a muscular problem in the loss against Tottenham, and his participation is unlikely.

Ben White had a rusty game after his return from injury but should keep his place after Takehiro Tomiyasu walked off the Newcastle game with a hamstring injury. Rob Holding will be back from suspension and will slot into centre-back position with White. This will be one of those games where Arteta will have to go for the strongest squad available and get a win.

Arsenal Possible Starting Lineup (4-2-3-1):
Aaron Ramsdale (GK); Cedric Soares(RB), Ben White (CB), Rob Holding(CB), Nuno Tavares (LB); Granit Xhaka (CDM), Mohamed Elneny (CDM); Bukayo Saka (RW), Martin Ødegaard (CAM), Gabriel Martinelli (LW); Eddie Nketiah (ST)

Predicted Score

Arsenal vs Everton 1-0 :Saka to score the winner in a tight game with both teams having to stay defensively solid and the Everton side being more likely to make a fatal error

Arteta will be worried after his defence capitulated against the Magpies at Tyneside. Arsenal still lack the players who can sense danger in games and know when to alter the tempo to stay in control of the game. With Spurs taking on Norwich, Arsenal will have no time to dwell on the loss as they will try to end the season with a win and hope other results to go their way.

The only major concern for Arteta is that the team has not managed to keep a clean sheet in last nine games. Arsenal have also lost their last three games against Everton. The only advantage Arteta has going into this game is the fact that Everton have secured Premier League survival with their late win at Crystal Palace and might be less desperate for the three points. Another stat in favor of Arsenal is that they are unbeaten in their final league match in the last 16 seasons while Everton have lost their last four, conceding at least 3 goals in each defeat.
