Arsenal 2-0 Everton: 3 Crucial Things To Be Addressed

Arsenal vs Everton Predicted Lineup

Arsenal‘s game against Everton was a match to remember. The Gunners showcased their ability to rip open defenses at ease. And though the game ended at 2-0, the Toffees were also given with many opportunities that they led to waste.

Alexandre Lacazette’s goal in the 56th minute was a stunner where he produced a magnificent curler that Jordan Pickford had no answer to. The ball curled past the keeper and eventually hit the upright, and invited itself into the goal. Aaron Ramsey’s excellent vision to spot some free space and setting his teammate up deserves praise as well.

The 59th minute goal by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the outcome of a counter-attack led by Mesut Ozil who decided to pass to Ramsey, who, though missed his cue to shoot, gently flicked it to Aubameyang who simply shot it into the Everton goal.

However, replays revealed that the Gabonese star’s goal was well offside, which the officials failed to notice. But having been denied an almost certain penalty earlier in the game, Unai Emery’s men wouldn’t care much about that.

Everton had chances which Richarlison and Theo Walcott failed to capitalise upon. Although they had 10 shots throughout the game, they managed to hit 6 on target when compared to Arsenal’s only 9 shots through the game out of which 5 were on target. The possession was dominated by the hosts with 63% of the ball time into their account.

Petr Cech played an important role in denying the opponents of a goal to keep the first clean sheet of this season for Arsenal under Emery.

Here are 3 aspects of the Super Sunday clash that demand attention:

Lucas Torreira’s Start:

Lucas Torreira started his first Premier League game for the Londoners. This signifies a huge milestone in his career at the club and we can expect his dynamism and strong will power to push through all the other matches to come. This opportunity enables the gaffer to have another midfielder who could be dispatched during defensive conditions and adds more flexibility in his squad.

Petr Cech: The Unlikely Hero

Petr Cech was a saviour during the game when he denied Richarlison of a goal in the 2nd minute of the game. The shotstopper also made another save off a 20-yard shot and yet again denied Richarlison from a left footed shot that was struck fiercely from the left near post of the goal.

“Today he [Cech] showed us he is very well and is continuing with this work and this spirit every day,” said the Arsenal boss [via Metro].

“The other goalkeepers are the same, very well, and need to continue working for when the team needs.”

The Strikers Are Firing Well:

Aubameyang and Lacazette have both scored in three of the last five Premier League games they’ve started together. This indicates of a powerful attacking force up front with Ramsey and Ozil aiding the frontiers. Alex Iwobi also had a great time in the Europa League and he can generate sparks if he is moulded properly under Emery’s reign at the club.

With that being said, Arsenal play Brentford this week for the Carabao Cup third round and they play Watford at home this weekend.
