Dejavu : Why is it That Arsenal Insist on Dealing in Injured or Damaged Players

Cedric Soares, injured

Look on most Arsenal fan forums and you’ll find the same questions regarding the gunners general transfer policy. There seems to be a mystifying and inexplicable need from Arsenal to sign players who are injured.

It goes back years and features names like Kim Källström, Dennis Suarez, Kieran Tierney and now Cedric Soares.

The fact that three of those players were loan deals tends to make Arsenal fans slightly nervous, especially when they haven’t seen a stable or functional defence all season.

For many, it’s just more evidence of poor management, who have no intention of making the club strong enough to reclaim their place at the summit of the premier league.

Another one Bites the Dust as Arsenal let Bruno Guimaraes Slip Through Their Fingers

Arteta’s Resurrection of Mustafi is Just Another Attempt by the Board to Short Change Fans

Barren Spell or not, This is why Lacazette Needs to Keep Starting in Front of the Goal for Arsenal

Cedric Soares and Kieran Tierney are of course fine players, but that’s absolutely no consolation when things are going poorly in defence. When you need able bodies to reinforce the team, you go and buy able bodies, not players with a foot or an arm down.

Perhaps Arsenal have shares in a London A & E department or they are just plain stupid in desperate circumstances, by offering to accept a loan deal which requires them to pay vast sums of money for a player who can only play three or four games.

Fans are convinced that had Mustafi not been injured, Arsenal wouldn’t have dipped into the loan market and there are also fears now that the summer transfer window won’t be any better.

Arteta will either be able to wheel and deal with the full support of the board and the promise of their financial backing or Arsenal will face another season drastically of the pace and out of contention.

Loan deals aren’t the solution and the figures Arsenal have wasted in the past could have paid for the transfer of Bruno Guimaraes if Arsenal’s legendary board members hadn’t been shilly-shallying as usual.

Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
