Arsenal Interested in £25 million-rated Premier League Star; Could be The Next Addition After Ben White

Max Aarons, Arsenal

Arsenal are reportedly tracking Norwich City’s young right-back, Max Aarons, as they continue to inject the first-team with young players. The 21-year-old has become the latest ‘young player’ to have been linked with a switch to the Emirates. The Daily Express has reported that the Gunners are eyeing a deal for the full-back after completing deals for Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White.

Right-back is one of those positions at Arsenal where there needs to be more than one sale before any approach for a fresh target is made. Arsenal are extremely well-stocked for that role with the likes of Hector Bellerin, Cedric Soares, and Calum Chambers holding the fort.

The Norwich man can be the fourth signing of the summer for the Gunners

However, none of the above-mentioned players looks like long-term solutions for the right-back position that has been a weak link in the team for some time, even though Chambers did a half-decent job at the latter stages of the 20-21 campaign.

Max Aarons, who came through the youth ranks of Luton Town, is one name that Arsenal have tracked for a long time. This summer transfer window might finally be the one when they make a move.

The 21-year-old has already made 130 appearances for the Canaries, scoring five goals and assisting 13. Valued at £19.80m, Arsenal can land a player who has already impressed in the Premier League and the Championship, and one who enters the picture with bags of potential.

Aarons can be a solid addition at the Emirates

It seems that the Gunners have learned from their previous mistakes of signing players reaching the twilight of their career. Although Petr Cech and David Luiz were decent signings, the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Willian are the most notable names that have subtly stabbed the team on their back.

The Gunners have signed two names in Lokonga and Nuno Tavares, both of whom were hardly on the radar of the majority of the fanbase. This is the market Arsenal should explore more, as they cannot splash the cash on world-class players like Manchester City and Chelsea.

Personal Viewpoint: Max Aarons was always one of the top names, if not the top, that I wanted Arsenal to sign. I was hoping for them to move out Bellerin last summer and sign Aarons after he surprised many in the 2019/20 Premier League campaign.

The England U21 international’s lung-bursting runs into the opposition half, whilst also making sure he did his defensive duties certainly caught my eye. He continued his development in the Championship after getting relegated at the end of the 19-20 season. In my opinion, he has shown enough talent to prove that he is too good for England’s second-tier league.

Although Norwich are not forced to make a sale for one of their most coveted players, they will be open to the idea of Max Aarons moving to North London, if the right offer is made by Arsenal. And I certainly want Aarons more than any of the names that have been linked to us until now. He has proved that he can play in arguably the best league in the world. His homegrown status and age are two cherries on the top of a delicious cake.
