Arsenal International Watch – What are the Gunners upto and how did they fare ?

International Breaks can sometimes be a good thing with players returning on new found confidence or some even having a week-off . While these may be a few good scenarios looking into the far side of the worst the club teams might lose momentum or might even lose a player or two . Thus International Breaks do have their things but being a World Cup year it would be good to watch how each Teams stand as they head into the World Cup Finals in less than Three months.

So as we head into what looks like the last international Break for this season with a few matches to look out for before the World cup in June. We have a look at the fixtures of our Gunners :[spacer height=”30px”]

1) Mesut Ozil

The German playmaker has been called up for national duty as the Die Mannschaft would look to come top against Spain and Brazil. The defending champions would be looking to have their records clean when they head into World cups starting in June.[spacer height=”30px”]

Germany squared up with Spain in their first match with Ozil playing the full 90 minutes and not travelling further with the rest of the squad for the second match against Brazil at Berlin.

2)Laurent Koscielny

The French national Team are all set to play Colombia and Russia in this International Break. Just like the Germans the Les Blues also posses a good depth in Squad balance. They would look to go all guns blazing as the head into world cup in Russia.[spacer height=”30px”]

Koscielny is set to play his last World cup would like to make the most of it . He is likely to start at the expense of either umtiti along with Varane. The Frenchmen would look forward to prove his mettle and make it into the playing XI on account of his experience in the World Cup Squad.[spacer height=”30px”]

Koscielny missed the first match which ended with a 3-2 loss for the Les Bleus. Having been substituted 11 minutes into the game against AC Milan, Koscielny was reported to have been ‘spared’ by Didier Deschamps with Umtiti and Varane playing at the heart of the defense.[spacer height=”30px”]

3)Jack Wilshere

Wilshere was selected in the 26 man squad for the friendlies against Holland and Italy. However he suffered tendon problems and has not travelled with the English National side. It is unlikely that he will start against Italy as well. This means he has to wait to get back into the English National Side.Also this puts his chances of flying to Russia in doubt. [spacer height=”30px”]

4)Danny Welback

Danny Welback had a good past week , Helping Arsenal edge past AC Milan and Being called up for national duty. The absence of Harry Kane means that Welback might as well pair up with Vardy if Southgate chooses goes with two Forwards. His Inclusion denotes the faith Southgate has in Weback owing to his performances everytime he has donned the Three lions Jersey.

For the first match however neither Welback nor Vardy were given the nod with Southgate instead choosing to play with Rashford, Lingard and Sterling as his front three.

5)David Ospina

Colombia are all set to play France and Australia in this round of international Friendlies. The Shot Stoper is the main stay between the posts for the Los Cafeteros. His team would look upto his glovework for his National Side .

Despite emerging out with a brave victory against the likes of Mbappe, Griezmann and Lemar, Ospina had a night to forget with a howler gifting Oliver Giroud the first goal for France. The however ended 3-2 with Columbia winning away from home against one of the most talented squads to feature in the World Cup.

6)Alex Iwobi

The Super Eagles face Poland and Serbia.Alex has been kind of a revelation for his National side when he scored 2 goals against an Argentina side. It will be interesting to see how he fares again in national Colors.

Alex Iwobi was among those who started in his teams 1-0 impressive win over Poland thanks to a Victor Moses goal.

7)Granit Xhaka

Swiss national Footballwill be facing Greece and Panama this week. Granit Xhaka ,25 has already made 59 appearences for the red Crusaders. Back of his Stellar performance in the europa League against AC Milan , Xhaka would be all pumped to turn out in Red again. [spacer height=”30px”]

Switzerland are Pitted along with Brazil,Serbia and Costa Rica in Group .

Switzerland emerged the better team in their 1-0 win over Greece with Blerim Dzemaili with the winning goal in the 59th minute. [spacer height=”30px”]

8)Sead Kolasinac

Bosnia and Herzegovina will be facing Bulgaria and Senegal this international week. Sead Kolasinac who has 22 caps for his national side would be looking forward to some much needed stint with the national side as his starts in the first team have reduced. [spacer height=”30px”]

Saed Kolasinac proved a timely reminder about his talents with a match winning assist vs Bulgaria in Bosnia and Herzegovina 1-0 win against Bulgaria . [spacer height=”30px”]

9)Mohamed Elneny

Egypt will be facing Portugal and Greece this week.The Face off between Ronaldo and Salah is the one to look out for.[spacer height=”30px”]

Elneny who has shown a turn around with recent performances would be looking forward to pairing up with his Premier League partners in Hegazhi and Salah.Facing Portugal would be a nice test to see how Egypt will fare among some elites in the World cup.[spacer height=”30px”]

The Pharohs find themselves in Group a along with Russia ,Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. [spacer height=”30px”]

In what was billed as a clash of titans with Mo Salah being pitied against Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo turned the match on its head with a couple of sublime goals in the 92nd and the 95th minute. Elneny featured on the losing side at the heart of the midfield but was unable to maintain their teams 1-0 lead to the end. [spacer height=”30px”]

10)Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Armenia will face Lithuania and Estonia during the international week .Mkhitryan who was announced Armenian footballer of the year 7th Time in a row would looking forward to carry his form into the national team .Armenia finished fourth in the Qualifiers failing to make it to the World Cup Finals. [spacer height=”30px”]

11)Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Gabon travelled to Thailand for the Kings cup It was a four team knock out Tournament which included Thailand, UAE and Slovakia .Gabon team in the absence of Aubameyang put in a spirited performance against the home team but eventually lost in the penalties .Aubameyang missed the match due to the demise of his Grand mother.[spacer height=”30px”]
