According to various Italian media sources, Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a sensational deal for 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz. The management is reportedly of the opinion that the teenager would be an ideal replacement for the ageing and now out of favor German playmaker ‘Mesut Ozil’.
Mesut Ozil was excluded from the matchday squad against Europa League opponents BATE. After the shameful loss against a Belarusian football team that hadn’t played competitive football for over a month and half, Unai Emery had this to say on Ozil’s exclusion.
“Every player is OK to play. Today those that were here, we can win with them and deserved that. Last week we won and we played with the same players. For me today there was no difference in performance.”
“We deserved to win but didn’t get the result. They were very organized defensively and they found the moment in the game. It is not for one player or another. We can win with every player and lose with the same players.”
Unai Emery’s post match comments clearly portray his lack of faith in the German international. Since his appointment, the ex-Sevilla boss has tried to make amends to a broken squad on a shoe-string budget.
It is clear that Unai is now trying to freeze out Ozil so that there can be significant deductions in the wage bill which might assist in further new signings or its a whole different mess altogether.
Kai Havertz has previously received interest from some of the top English clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United. This season, he has been in top form scoring 11 goals and assisting 6 in his 28 appearances across all competitions for the German club.
At 19 years of age, Kai Havertz is one of the most emerging and immensely talented players to watch out for. He has already been touted to be the next Mesut Ozil for his playmaking abilities. The German lad has immense potential and can very well be one the most exciting starts to watch out for in the future.
Arsenal scouts have been reportedly watching the 19 year old German International since his performances at the Under-19 level and this has led to the club decision makers apparently earmarking him as one of the key aspects about their summer rebuilding plan at the Emirates.
