According to recent reports in Germany, Arsenal are leading the race to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer. The Gunners are looking to add an attacker to their ranks with the Slovenian forward attracting attention, but the club need to trigger his release clause by the end of June.
Benjamin Sesko jumped through various Slovenian clubs during his youth years. The youngster played in the youth setups at Radece, Rudar Trbovlje, Krsko and Domzale from 2010 to 2019 before finally moving to Austria to join the senior team at RB Salzburg.
In June 2019, the Slovenian attacker signed his first professional contract of three years with RB Salzburg at the age of 16. After making 55 appearances for the Austrian club, he signed for German side RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 for a reported transfer fee of around €24 million.
Now, according to Metro, Arsenal are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko and are in pole position to sign him in the upcoming summer transfer window. However, the Gunners would need to trigger the attacker’s €65m (£56m) release clause by the end of June, before the clause in his contract expires.
The 21-year-old is also reportedly inclined to moving to the Emirates. The youngster’s agent was seen in the stands during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford a few weeks ago. So, if the player decides to move this summer, the North Londoners seem to be the most likely destination.
The Slovenian international joined RB Leipzig in 2023 on a five-year contract. Despite him joining only a year ago, there is a lot of speculation surrounding the striker’s future. He has already established himself as a top striker in the Bundesliga this season, having scored 14 goals in 31 league games.
Chelsea and Arsenal have presented very strong proposals to Benjamin Sesko. Importance to their squads, salary and length of deal are very good according to sources.

The youngster has scored on a consistent basis, setting the record for being the youngest Bundesliga player to score in seven consecutive games at the age of 20 years 356 days. It was his robust performances that has made the Gunners take an interest in him. He has great physique, speed, and strength and can be a great asset for manager Mikel Arteta.
While Arsenal are the front-runners to secure the services of Benjamin Sesko, they face strong competition from rival PL clubs. Both Chelsea and Manchester United have tracked him for a while and are prepared to swoop in by triggering his release clause.
