From France | Arsenal Have Finally Found The Perfect Replacement For Aaron Ramsey

Houssem Aouar Arsenal

It’s hotting up, not a day goes by without Arsenal’s name being added to a list possible transfer targets. Today, it’s the turn of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar and he’s a player that manager Unai Emery knows well from his days at PSG.

It’s said that Emery is impressed by Aouar’s technical ability and versatility in the middle but it’s a deal that would cost between £36 and £38 millions.

Here’s the bottom line, Emery may well like the player but the funds available to him are said to be around the £40 million mark, which would make the prospect of also signing a quality defender slightly impossible, unless club owner Stan Kroenke gives a green light to release more funds.

However, there are a host of other English clubs that are on alert, including Liverpool, Chelsea and high flying Manchester City.

Arsenal are not guaranteed a Champions league slot, so the youngster might be tempted to look towards Liverpool and City as the safer of all the available options.

Arsenal would face a struggle to get the 20-year-old Frenchman anyway because City manager Pep Guardiola has already begun the charm offensive by saying,

“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible.

“We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”

Another problem appears to be, that at present, Aouar seems quite content. When asked about a possible move he said,

“Since I was a kid, I wanted to play for Lyon,”

“Even if there were approaches, my childhood dream came before everything.

“I play for the club of my heart, so I’m in my dream.”

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas appeared to put the final nail in the transfer story coffin by saying,

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]

“A departure for Houssem Aouar? The door is totally closed for our most successful hope, who has come from the academy. I think he is the future of Lyon.:

“There will be very few departures this winter. We are not planning to let the world go this summer, we want to keep our players.”

“The potential buyers will have to be convincing, they will have to have the right arguments and I do not see many of them at the moment.”

We’ve heard defiant comments before and then the player in question has been sold for a fee resembling a telephone number but it appears on this occasion that the two most important people in this story are actually singing from the same page.

Anti Kroenke , anti Gazidis but always a gooner. Still wishes he could watch from the stands at the Highbury library.
