This Is Why Arsenal Will Be A Major Force To Reckon With In The 2019/20 Season

Arsenal, Unai Emery, Kroenke

Arsene Wenger changed the face of the Arsenal club during his 22-year tenure at the helm. Wenger won three Premier League titles which included “The Invincibles 2003-04” and took the Emirates-based outfit to the Champions League final in 2006.

Arsene Wenger managed the legendary players like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Freddie Ljungberg, Robert Pires & Patrick Vieira, under whom the club was at its peak. As every good thing comes to an end, Arsene Wenger left the North London outfit in 2018. Unai Emery replaced the legendary manager at the start of the 2018/19 season.

Unai Emery, the former PSG manager, started work on various grave matters. One of those severe issues was how to incorporate both Pierre Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette in the same side by building a system of playing them together.

The tactical Unai Emery positively incorporated both the strikers into the same line-up and enjoyed success. When both the strikers played alongside each other, the North Londoners enjoyed a success rate of 82%. Unai Emery lost only one match in the Premier League in 2018/19 when he started with both the strikers and it was against Manchester City.

After that defeat against Manchester City, the Spanish manager worked out different formations to endure against various opponents. He tested a 3-4-1-2 and a 4-4-2 formation during the course.

In the 4-4-2 formation, he used a No.10 in between the lines and a back four with bold positioning from their strikers. This helped Emery against Manchester United in the Premier League and Napoli in the Europa League.

In the 3-4-1-2 shape, Emery played Ramsey in a No.9 position and Lacazette, Aubameyang as strikers. Unai Emery played both the strikers in eleven games. In those eleven games, Lacazette scored five goals and added four assists to his tally, while Aubameyang got directly involved in 13 goals. Also, both the strikers have been involved in 74% of the goals out of 23.

The crucial transfer window for Arsenal?

Major outlets link Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet of Sampdoria with Arsenal as Unai Emery is looking to solve their defensive woes. According to few reports, Arsenal is very close to signing the former Atletico Madrid player Yannick Carrasco from the Chinese Super League. With Carrasco wanting a transfer back to Europe, the Belgian looks at Arsenal as his most favorable destination.

With the absence of Champions League action and limited availability of funds, Unai Emery is looking to budge in youth products. On a similar note, Emery is looking to sign Djené Dakonam from Getafe. Djené Dakonam was a significant figure for Getafe during the 2819-19 season.

If the board is able to solve the problems in this transfer window along with the youth players from the academy, Arsenal can be a serious contender for Champions League return. If they continue to evolve under Emery, there is no doubt that Arsenal will be a major force in the 2019/20 season.
