Arsenal Offer Bumper Contract to Youngster

Arsenal have reportedly offered a bumper contract extension to star right-winger Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners have recently been in a jubilant mood after witnessing their new summer signings, especially marquee signing Gabriel Jesus, perform exceptionally on the pitch during their pre-season games.

They would still have to make peace with the fact that the club will be playing Europa league football in the upcoming season, a prospect, not many talented young footballers look forward to. Arsenal would be hoping, and indeed making all the necessary efforts, to retain all their top talents as the season looms upon us.

According to recent reports, Arsenal are edging closer to retaining Saka’s services by offering a contract extension to the promising right-winger in the buildup to the 2022/23 season. The Young Englishman’s contract expires in 2024, which means that numerous clubs would be ready to swoop in for the player who would be available for a relatively lower fee around the same time next year.

This is precisely the reason why Edu and co. are bending over backwards to reach an agreement with Saka for a new contract. Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano in an interview with CaughtOffside, reported that the North London club has been negotiating a contract with the 20-year-old since February now.

By the end of last month, Daily Mail had reported that the club had offered the youngster a contract that would be worth double the current one, which pays him about £70,000 per week.

As it stands, the player hasn’t formally responded to the offer yet and it remains to be seen whether he accepts it. The Gunners are prepared to make Saka one of the highest-paid players at the club at the age of 20, establishing the youngster’s status as one of Europe’s most elite young players right now.

DailyMail had previously also reported that Manchester City had ramped up their interest in signing Bukayo Saka from Arsenal as a replacement for Raheem Sterling who made the switch to Chelsea this transfer window. The player is keen on playing Champions League football and the inability to do so certainly comes as a big blow.

However, Arsenal’s eagerness and proactivity in the transfer window in securing names such as Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus, Matt Turner, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Marquinhos suggests an intention of making it back to the top-4 spots in the coming season.
