With Arsenal Planning their Biggest Departures This Summer; Who are the Likeliest Players on the Menu

Mikel Arteta’s work may have to begin again in the summer as Arsenal’s alleged fire sale gets underway. According to various sources apart from the likes of Xhaka and Mustafi, Ozil, Aubameyang and Lacazette could all find their way out of the Emirates exit door if the money is right.

It’s said that behind closed doors, the rebuilding of Arsenal is a bigger proposition than they first realised and that the vision is to build the side around a handful of academy players which will become the backbone of the team for the next decade.

Names such as Brentford forward Said Benrahma are thought to be part of that vision and although the press are linking every player with a brain and two legs to the North London club, there are many claiming that the stories have some validity. Another player that certain betting portals and best online casinos have Arsenal, as the favourites to sign in the summer is Le Havre midfielder Pape Gueye.

Auba’s position seems fairly clear. Aubameyang has one last move ahead of him and Barcelona need a striker. At the age of 31 and with his reputation as a polished striker, his price is currently around £63m, which could go a long way to rebuilding the Gunners first team. Although his goals have been crucial, Arsenal’s failures elsewhere have negated the contributions of Aubameyang.

In terms of his strike partner, Alexandre Lacazette, his form has dipped dramatically and he won’t be seen as the same type of loss, having not found the net for two months. This isn’t entirely his fault because both strikers have had to work for their goals due to the awful service they have received.

The sale of Ozil is pretty much a foregone conclusion these days, he’s out of contract in 2021 and needs to be moved on whilst he has any value left. Arsenal and Arteta may have to phase out players in two successive windows due to the destabilising effect on the squad but the deconstruction and reconstruction look to be the only way to find success.
