According to latest reports, Arsenal are looking to hand club captain Martin Odegaard a new long-term contract, which will also include a substantial pay rise. The Norwegian has been one of the key driving forces for the Gunners this season.
Returning from the international break, Arsenal got back to usual business. They thrashed Leeds United 4-1 last weekend and consolidated their place at the top of the Premier League. The Gunners’ excellent season display is down to the brilliant form of several key players.
The North London side are performing exceptionally this season and thus, they want to tie down their main players to long-term contracts. One such important player in Mikel Arteta’s squad is Martin Odegaard, the midfield star of this young team.
According to Football Transfers (via Caught Offside), Arsenal are planning to offer Martin Odegaard a new long-term contract that will run till 2030. This bumper deal will also see his salary rise from €6m to around €10m, making him one of the highest-paid players in the squad.
The Norwegian still has more than two years left in his current deal at the Emirates, with the option to extend for another year. Nevertheless, the Gunners want to tie him down to a very long-term contract. This follows the new contract signed by Gabriel Martinelli and the reports surrounding Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

Martin Odegaard first arrived at the Emirates Stadium on loan in the 2020-21 winter transfer window. In the six months here, he impressed the club officials, which made them bring him back on a permanent transfer from Real Madrid, for around £30m.
Since then, the Norway international has become a fan favourite, and due to his brilliant performances, he was named the captain of the team before the current season began. In total, he has 96 appearances for Arsenal, with 19 goals and 15 assists (stats via Transfermarkt).
This season, the 24-year-old midfielder has started in 28 league matches out of 29 and has acquired 10 goals and 8 assists so far. With such impressive statistics, he is only behind Bukayo Saka in total goal contributions in the Premier League for the club.

His exceptional form for the North Londoners has made him one of the mainstays in the Gunners starting XI. The young star has established himself as one of the best attacking midfielders in not only the Premier League, but the world as well.
The Norwegian, along with the attacking trio of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, is the driving force behind the club’s resurgence as a genuine title contender and their lead at the top ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
